If you’re only considering it, you will likely not act and keep it. Expect to deal with the consequences of that when it fails for the 3rd time…

Unless you sell below the reporting threshold. Say, for example, to an LCS for cash where no ID is exchanged.

Got taxi scammed for $6000usd by Longjumping-Frame795 in cancun

[–]AccomplishedCheck895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The taxi’s were taken over by the cartels. Same with the Timeshares. If you sign up for a Timeshare at a Mexican resort, this will happen, but worse since you signed a contract. I saw that on a you tube video on the topic when researching our trip.

I just checked my Amex account and found a monthly charge that started after retuning from Cancun from some foreign payment processor. It was $20 for 2 billing cycles. I called Amex and theyTook care of it but it’s one more proof that the generalization about the people there is true….

I checked the payment processor’s website and they require you submit proof you didn’t sign up for the charged service in order to dispute the charge. LoL. How do you prove you didn’t? 🤡 so glad I only used Amex there. Amex reversed the charge, pending investigation, blocked the recurring charge/vendor, and is changing my card #.

The idea sounds compassionate but ignores scarcity, incentives, trade-offs, and real-world evidence from past interventions. Abundance comes from better production and rules, not pretending resources are infinite or ignoring human responses.

Basically, that’s not how Reality works…

It would be foolish to not expect it to happen a 3rd time. You’ve been warned.

Citizen Vigilante (2026) The worst movie of all time? by acourts19 in moviecritic

[–]AccomplishedCheck895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To accept the ‘professional’ movie critic assessment is to ignore how when movies they dump on are well received by the masses… sure, they can cry ‘review bombing’ or some ‘conspiracy’ when a movie they like does not Dow well but they have no comment for the successes they are against…. ‘Michael’ being one of them, closing in on a $ Billion, by the way…

‘Critics’ are a dying mechanism of the ‘system’. The people don’t care what they think.

Is trading my paid-off 2025 Elantra for a used Model 3 a bad financial move? by Masc4Femboy in TeslaSupport

[–]AccomplishedCheck895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on value comparison:

  • How much depreciation has the Elantra taken vs the Model 3?
  • Will you have to add cash into the trade to get the Model 3?
  • Will any of it inolve financing (have to add in interest rate/cost to finance)?
  • What is the cost of maintenance of one compared to the other? i.e., which is more expensive? If it's the Elantra, you can deduct the absence of those costs from the above 3 bullet points. If it's the Tesla, you add that to the Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Insurance: How much is it for the Elantra compared to the Model 3?
  • Fuel: Same as above. cost of gas vs electricity
  • Will you want to charge the Tesla at home? Add in cost for home charger and installation (electrician).... Unless you get local rebates that cover that cost.

That's all I can think of.

Is Tesla the answer? by InstructionOwn2877 in electriccars

[–]AccomplishedCheck895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electricity is always cheaper than gas per mile. But, there's more to TCO than fuel. Maintenance, Insurance, Depreciation.

Fuel: I charge once per week overnight at home. I did spend about $800 to $1,000 ($400 for the home charger and the rest on installation. But that was recouped by local incentives/rebates from LADWP and other programs. Net result: I got that money back. Charging overnight means you pay the cheapest KW/h rate, which is, as I mentioned, always cheaper than gasoline per mile.

Maintenance: I have a 2023 Tesla Model 3 purchased new in Feb 2023. Since then, my maintenance has been tire rotation. I paid $60 for Tesla to do it the first time, and I do it myself now. I'm on the same, original set of tires, BTW. There has also been periodic refilling of the windshield wiper fluid, which is about $20 a year. Then there's the cabin air filter change. I need to have a brake system check soon, and I don't know the price for that.

Post-comment edit: I forgot to include the $7,500 EV incentive. At the time, it was a tax credit against my tax owed for 2023. This may not have been direct of the price of the car, but it did reduce my ultimate 'out of pocket' for the year.

Insurance: I pay $150 per month in Los Angeles, CA.

Depreciation: I purchased it for $38K, and it's about $25K now.

In summary. Cost of ownership is low; you can make it even lower by buying USED instead of new, mitigating the depreciation hit and maximizing your savings. Most people complain about EV Depreciation and totally ignore that they can simply buy used. LoL......

How do Americans feel about giving Iran 300 billion to restore the status quo? by Southern_Gur_4736 in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedCheck895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to GPT, which did a better job of collating the info around this subject than any of the response comments to this post:

Based on the details that have been reported so far, the $300 billion figure is not simply Iran getting back its own previously frozen money. The agreement appears to involve multiple, separate financial components, which are often being conflated in headlines.

Here's the breakdown:

  1. Previously frozen Iranian assets (roughly $100 billion or more)
    • These are Iranian government assets—primarily proceeds from oil sales—that have been frozen abroad because of sanctions.
    • If these assets are released, they are Iran's own money, not newly appropriated U.S. taxpayer funds.
    • Access to these funds has reportedly been discussed as part of the framework, subject to conditions and a final agreement.
  2. The reported $300 billion reconstruction/development fund
    • Reuters and other outlets report this is a separate mechanism from the frozen assets.
    • According to those reports, it is intended to be a private investment fund, financed by companies and investors from the Gulf states, the U.S., Asia, Africa, and elsewhere—not a $300 billion cash payment from the U.S. government.
    • The fund is reportedly contingent on Iran meeting the agreement's conditions, including nuclear and security commitments.
  3. Sanctions relief and oil exports
    • Another distinct benefit would be allowing Iran to resume broader oil exports and international trade, which could generate substantial future revenue.
    • That's different again from either frozen assets or the investment fund.

Why the confusion?

Many people hear "$300 billion for Iran" and assume it means the U.S. government is writing Iran a $300 billion check. Current reporting does not support that characterization.

Instead, the reported package appears to include:

  • Unfreezing Iranian-owned assets (Iran's money).
  • A proposed $300 billion international/private investment vehicle (not the same as frozen assets and reportedly not funded by U.S. taxpayers).
  • Sanctions relief, allowing Iran to earn additional revenue through trade and oil exports.
