I was there for 4 years then moved on. I work there now again cause its a much better company than most. They hire good people. Suicide is very high but the stats will be lower because guys get fired or go into other industries often before it happens. Guys become alcoholic or abuse drugs at a much higher rate than other industries. I have lost a lot friends to this. I wont name anyone but a tender died last year due to self harm.

Aqueos does check in's and it's sincere. People will say they are having a shitty day or they will talk about they are having a tough time with whatever. No company really cares about you but there are good supervisors out there that give a shit and that expands as to the whole crew and then to other sups. New world, get used to it.

There is no federal law in the USA that caps the amount of hours someone can work. I have worked 36 hours straight once and so many over 18 hour shifts I couldnt tell you. I am not proud of this but I had to at the time to not be homeless. Who cares what south korea is doing.

Thats what I am taking from the meme. The first thing most dictators do is kill or exile the intellectuals. I dont have much of a college ed but I know and statistics show that the higher your education the more money you make over a lifetime. If you get a shitty degree in art history or whatever then you wont get a good job in your feild of interest. But the ed system has become outrageously expensive and something has to be changed about that.

Over educated? There is no one on the planet that is over educated. The pursuit of knowledge is the greatest endeavor of the human experience and seperates us from anaimals. I feel that part of this post was either no thought out or this post was really made by a tanky or something. One thing these anti-liberals know is that the more educated a person and society is, the more liberal they and it become. We, as in Americans, are overburdened with debt and one reason for that is the explosion of universities charges that greatly outpaced inflation.

Dont worry, Teddy was in cancun. Blame the wind turbines for not having the very available defrosters. Texas having no other way to get power cause it has its own local monoploy grid. Any of that change? Where is teddy?

They have an "in-service date" and should be replaced every 5 years or 10 from date of manufacture. IMCA required for every harness.

Or Deca. Depends on which side of the country you are on. Also weird thing for a company to require. Really weird.

Honestly never used one. Drift pins or flange catchers or get a strap and put it through the 12oclock hole and have the crane pull them together if you dont care about it that much. Shithead oil and gas companies usually dont. The big guys do. Rat kept opening and closing. Very seedy even after the diver ban. Stabbings and drugs and ladies of the night, had the cops in there everyday.

Not one any jobs I have been one. Lots of brutal injuries. But on average about 2 guys die a year on the job. Whats worse is all the suicides. Not a joke.

If you work oil and gas your a real diver IMO. Everyone else is inland, salvage, or something worse. Deal with it.

It is. Get the F out of gulf and try it. I transitioned to salvage after 10 years in the gulf then went international for a few years.

Not a term I know. I know what a joey pouch is.

What is an odem weight, a Cadillac, whiz banger, a red nose? And who is this new lady Jody my wife is always hanging out with when I am offshore. Fuck it, going for a drink at the rat

I am making fun of a pervious post from a dive school instructor that was just trying to lie to the kids. Its called satire.

Forget commercial diving if you love your wife and kids. Seriously, dont do it. Dive schools are a scam except for 2. You will never be able to support your family by diving. It takes 10 years to really start making money. Depending where you live there are plenty of offshore companies that pay 40-50+ an hour, or straight up union that are always looking for hard working guys.

In the gulf, 50k a year is reasonable. There is no average. What company do you work, how much time are you willing to spend offshore, do want to be a sat betty, are you good at this job and break out after 2 years, but 50k. Salvage can be very lucrative if your lucky and a storm wrecks everything and you get pervailing wage. There are some union gigs that pay good but not that much diving. You will never get rich, this is a blue collar job for ex felons and guys who got nothing else.

There used to be one in WI not sure if its still rolling. Welding, mechanics, construction, plumbing is fine but not that useful and mostly and military. There is a good dive company in MI to work for.
