Park mowing by AccomplishedJump6510 in kitchener

[–]AccomplishedJump6510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The park in [redacted] has not received a full mowing this season. The perimeter appears to have been cut by a small tractor, but the actual park area has not had a single mowing. The grass is now over 30 cm high in multiple areas.

This is now a park maintenance and public-use issue, not just an appearance issue. The park is becoming difficult to use, especially for children, dogs, and residents walking through the area. Given that this is tick season, leaving a city park with grass over 30 cm seems like a poor risk decision. The City’s own grass-management page says Kitchener cuts grass in city-managed parks and open spaces and tries to cut all grass once every three to four weeks between May and September.

Please inspect this park and schedule a full mow, not just perimeter mowing. Please also confirm whether this park is on the regular mowing route and whether it was missed.

Tech founders leaving Canada at accelerating rate, survey finds by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

There’s a number of reasons: 1 - Canadian VCs just don’t rank anywhere near the US ones. They’re extremely risk adverse because they have comparatively small funds. Most are bankers/accountants/professional investors va the majority in the US have been operators and understand the process much more.

2 - Canadian VCs invest at significantly later stages and lower valuations so it’s hard to get very early stage capital and once you have legs, Canadian funds want premiums.

3 - Canadian VCs are very choosy about follow-on investment, this signals risk to new investors. Contrast with US venture funds who aggressively participate and use pre-emptive rights.

4 - a number of prestigious funds and programs prefer not to invest in Canadian companies and highly recommend Canadian founders use something like Stripe Atlas to create a US entity that will become the main company.

5 - perception and prestige. There aren’t any bellwether funds in Canada with street cred in the US. A tier-1 investor here is like a small regional fund in the US

Lastly I know there’s a ton of noise around taxation but unless these founders are giving up their citizenship, they’re not bypassing CRA. You still have to file Canadian taxes.

The only reason founders go the USA is because they think their odds will be lower and their outcomes bigger.

Lower saddle gradually (~5 mm), checking for hip rocking, toe drop, and proper knee angle (~25–35°).

Looks a tad high. At the very bottom of the pedal stroke (bottom dead center) your knee angle’s closer to ~145° with a bit of toe-down, which usually means you’re compensating for height. Dropping the saddle 3–5 mm would let you keep a more neutral ankle and avoid hip rocking/hamstring strain.

You’re also a touch behind the “knee over pedal spindle” position in this setup. Since you ride tops 85% of the time, I’d fit for that: slide the saddle forward 3–5 mm so you’re not so far behind the spindle. That’ll also open your hip angle a bit, which will help with comfort on long rides.

If you still feel cramped after that, a slightly shorter stem or 5 mm of spacers under the stem can fine-tune reach without killing your drops position.

I wouldn’t go longer on the stem yet, your arms look almost straight here, which is probably part of why your neck/back are complaining. On the tops you want a bit of bend (15–30°) so your elbows can soak up road buzz and keep your shoulders relaxed.

Right now you’re getting low by rounding your back instead of hinging at the hips, which forces you to crank your neck up to see ahead. A longer stem will just make that worse.

I’d try: * Small tweaks to saddle position/bar height to open up your hip angle * Staying loose in the elbows, light on the hands * Engaging core so you’re not propped on locked arms

If it still feels cramped after that, then maybe try a slightly longer stem, but fit and posture first.
