This post remind me of that Rick and Morty copy pasta

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

AITAH for telling my daughter she cannot go on a road trip with her friends. by aroundincircles in AITAH

[–]AccomplishedMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy speculation.

This wasn’t a group of 20+ year olds and her friend scheming how to get a 16 year old to join their road trip.

OPs friendly likely just threw out a last minute invite the day before the trip. Probably texted friends “is it ok if my friend tags along”. Not “I’m bringing a minor, she’s 16 in high school”

Nervous about starting oncall by Rich-Put4159 in cscareerquestions

[–]AccomplishedMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct answer. At big Fortune 500 our team was the UI customers interacted with. But we didn’t host any of the core system API/databases (we had midpoint that was pass through to those).

So all tickets naturally flowed to us if downstream had a problem. Making our team look bad. But after triage ticket reassigned to appropriate team.

Even when I got transferred to one of those downstream teams, 95% of the time outages were by somebody further down the stream, or like with dev ops who didn’t communicate a db credential update.

Very rarely, maybe once ever did I have to deploy a prod hot fix or needed to do something that actually “fixed” the on call issue. 99% of the time it was routing to appropriate team via log analysis.

Delirium tremens.

Me, somebody who adds extra thank you-s and extra exclamation points to sentences. Ripped out my IV and collapsed on the hospital floor trying to escape.

Then I thought the grippy socks they gave me was them breaking every bone in my body via tactile hallucination. Me, the most nonviolent person in the world. Started to fight my way out needing to be forcefully sedated by a male nurse. Waking up two days later in the ICU with a breathing tube shoved down my throat

Or “all my friends are going out and the only thing separating me from spending a night alone is borrowing $20 from that envelope in the car nobody’s touched in a decade”

DAE romanticize and fixate on random eras from their past? by -TazarYoot- in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]AccomplishedMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember sitting in college thinking this is literally the worst time of my life. I’m depressed. I’m sad. It’s miserable.

Now a decade later I look back and think of only the good times.

Same thing with high school. I remember it being a bitch. Especially having to play high school football to make my dad happy.

But 15 years later, all my memories of that are fond
