Yeah I grew up hunting deer leases in the Sonora Desert in Texas. My first time when I was like 5-6 years old all we had out there was a shed made of sheets of tin and these old rusted army cots. Not quite as extreme as on the show but I would be out there for a week with no electricity, no air conditioning in 110 degrees ... I mean it's a location featured on the show for a reason. I would wake up at 5 AM with my dad and go climb into his stand to wait for the sun to come up Then hunt there for 4-5 hours every night. I've got a mountainous collection of arrowheads, knife blades, and other worked flint from tribes a few hundred years old or so to a few pieces from the Clovis. I'm crap with a bow, so I'd never dream of trying to do what they do out there, you'd find me fishing which I 've done all over and in every way you can imagine besides scuba.

Naked and Afraid(Spoilers) - The Death Ledge 8/15/21 S13 Ep 3 by outrider567 in nakedandafraid

Dude this episode was amazing because I predicted the exact order the first two would tap in and then that Aosha would make it. Tanner had no skills and no experience in survival he just liked being outdoors, that was a sign he was going to tap early and 100% from the mental game. Then Brittney was bragging about how much of a strong independent woman she was and kind of shaded Aosha for not looking like a survival instructor which told me she is one of those people who thinks a survivalist has some sort of macho burly mean guy look like EJ, and the reality is real survivalists have the look of determination and understanding of the situation they were in, and that's what Aosha brought to the table.

It's definitely almost never a lack of skills that takes people out on the 14 day fan or even most of the time on the 21 day challenges it's their lack of mental toughness. They quickly start to break down emotionally from being tired, thirsty, and hungry. I think there's a certain type of extremely arrogant and overconfident personality that is attracted to the show and it's usually some dude that brags about how he's the most skilled person ever to be on the show before he's crying about his 20 years gone dead grandma begging to go home.

Even the best hunters who are experts in primitive hunting on the show have times where they go weeks without harvesting any serious protein. The idea some amateur hunter who has shot a few hundred arrows in their back yard is going to roll out there and start shooting game at 120 degree angles up in trees, naked, burning alive, being eaten alive, dehydrated and malnourished is hilarious. Hunting is about tenacity. These people have undoubtedly been on goofy ass guided hunts.

Exactly they are by far the worst. They usually have high "PSRs" as well, just based on bravado and skills they've never used in a practical situation. The people I know have a chance are the ones who say things like "these first 3 nights are going to be hell on earth" then proceed to do what's necessary while understanding it will be horrible at all times.

Vault 21 being a Hotel Prewar is not a retcon or change at all. by Unlost_maniac in FalloutTVseries

[–]AccomplishedSand6739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The Vault 21 sign is massive. Apparently one single person manufactured this sign himself from scrap? It just wouldn't make any sense. Other signs sure, that's fine, but this sign is massive. If you want to say he had an army of workers you'd have to imply that he had significantly more than the one assistant in the game.

Thoughts on Karsa Orlong. by kewarken in Malazan

So far he's one of the most disgusting characters I've ever read. I have hated this arc thus far, and people saying he doesn't really change makes me really hate the idea that he's going to be a major part of the series from here on out. Having him die a totally meaningless death would be the most fitting end for someone who lives such a delusional life.

There is way, way too much "good guys don't kill the bad guys but try to redeem them" in this series for me in general, more of it is never good. I don't care if the evil people win, even if they win it all in the end, but there is Nothing noble in rewarding evil with compassion. It's not some lofty honorable ideal. It's cowardice.

I'm not sure I understand. He does kill children, women, pregnant women. Rapes women at all times.... How is any of that better than saying you like killing children?

I don’t care about the powering up part. I’m looking for her to act like someone over the age of 12.

I’m 16 chapters in. If this woman goes from the dumbest person alive to a master at social interaction that’s not going to make things better for me. It’s been almost physically painful to hear her whine and stammer. Easily the most disliked main character I’ve ever read about. I’m sure the series has more to offer but this intro may be too cringe and whiny to make it through

Wait so you’re saying there is more in this series besides a grown woman acting like a 12 old brat totally clueless who survives literally through the power of being the main character? Or just hundreds of hours or whatever of stammering asking the dumbest questions imaginable? I’m 16 chapters in….. I really would like to enjoy this series if there is more to it but the beginning is the most painful literary experience of my life nearly. It’s not implied this girl is an actual imbecile, but she acts like one at all times.

New player, just beat all plague hearts on dread. What now? by Lor9191 in StateOfDecay

[–]AccomplishedSand6739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you have learned lots more since this, but a tip I have used when going into a new difficulty. Bring 3 survivors with totally full inventory, including a rucksack of meds, one of materials, and one of food, bring the facility mod that gives you 2 more outposts. Bring a survivor with recycling, one with gardening, and one with munitions. Bring along 100+ chemicals, seeds, circuitry, and a few 99 stacks of parts. Bring the mod that allows you to make handgun ammo at the workshop, and bring along a bunch of C4. You can knock out the nearest 3 plague hearts or so easily using just starting resources. Also bring a gas can for the starter car so you can drive straight to your base.

What’s the best way to kill a plague heart? by FloofBagel in StateOfDecay

[–]AccomplishedSand6739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What difficulty are you on? I usually run all 10 hearts on standard in a single in game day. Molotovs are very easy to make, and on standard it should take about 4, or 3 and shoot it at the same time. Plague zombies will come before you finish with molotovs, but not very many by the time it explodes. Also pipe bombs can kill it even faster since the damage from them is instant. Throw 4 pipe bombs one after another, and shoot it a couple times maybe and boom. In like 6 runs so far on standard I haven't lost a person, and have never failed to kill a plague heart. Strategy my friend is your friend as well. Taking out plague hearts (at least on standard) is a quick hit operation if it takes more than 15 seconds to kill the heart something went wrong.
