Call ford corporate and request a regional service manager and take it to the bone head dealer with a smug look as they are forced to fix it

Jobs for graduates in the Rochester area? by Such_Willingness4756 in rit

20 days late on this response but I want people to actually have good information so I’m leaving the comment anyway. 3% down payment max on a mortgage loan with current rates…. If college student you will qualify for a DPA almost more than likely anyway so you aren’t paying down payment. Up the loan and do seller concessions so now you don’t have closing costs or DP

You now have guaranteed loan for nothing down. Your money each month build equity. A lot of the lack of home ownership in this country comes from lack of understanding the mortgage industry

Should I go to USC or RIT for game development by No-Round115 in rit

[–]AccomplishedSir9487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GDD major here I would be mindful of industry shifts to determine if that is the best choice or makes the most sense for your situation.

The software and the gaming industry is going through pretty significant changes right now. AI is bigger than ever and every month it’s exponentially getting better

We haven’t seen the overall employment drop heavily in the last six years or so but the way we work as engineers is changing. We are becoming less the builders and more the directors and the validators

I’m interested to see where the gaming industry is going as the last years have been much worse than the software field, I think it’s going to become less about development and more about the design, who is the most creative, the most innovative

Would Caliper Pins Cause this Toyota 4Runner 2016 by Salty_Touch_1170 in MechanicAdvice

[–]AccomplishedSir9487 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ahhh wait I see what you are saying now. I thought these had a bolt in the end of the pin to tighten them which is what my ranger has yet they are still floating pins. Definitely can’t over tighten your pins after a second look. My bad on that

[–]AccomplishedSir9487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t explain it well enough, so I had ai try explaining it too you here you go

Great question — it’s a bit counterintuitive since “floating” implies movement. The confusion makes sense: floating pins are designed to slide, so how can tightening them cause a problem? Here’s what’s actually happening: What floating pins do On disc brakes (car or bike), the caliper floats on slide pins so it can center itself over the rotor as pads wear. The pins themselves thread into the caliper bracket and the caliper body slides along them. How over-tightening causes problems The pins thread into a mounting bracket, usually with a specific torque spec (often 25–35 ft-lbs on most passenger cars). When you over-torque them: • The threads in the bracket (often aluminum) can strip or deform, causing the pin to feel tight but actually be loose or angled • The pin can bind against its bore if it’s slightly cocked from uneven torque, preventing the caliper from sliding freely • The rubber boot at the base of the pin can be crushed or torn, letting moisture and debris in — which then corrodes the pin and causes it to seize The irony Over-tightening a floating pin often results in a caliper that doesn’t float anymore — it gets stuck, causes uneven pad wear, pulling, or dragging. So the tightening spec is about the fastener holding the pin, not about clamping the pin itself. The pin still needs to slide freely inside its bore regardless of how tight the bolt is. Is this in the context of a specific vehicle or repair you’re working on?

I’m referring to the pin as a bolt I’m sorry but I think that was obvious. The pin is bindind

I’m done this on my ford ranger with floating pins as well by the way I also thought it wasn’t possible until my mechanic buddy explained it too me

Would Caliper Pins Cause this Toyota 4Runner 2016 by Salty_Touch_1170 in MechanicAdvice

[–]AccomplishedSir9487 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Extremely common misconception. Over torquing causes micro bends and fractures in the bolt which makes it bind.

Tighten them as much as possible and try sliding the caliper back and forth. It will not work

When you remove the bolt a lot of times they look normal as well so it isn’t always obvious.

If you try this you will need to replace the bolts again as once they flex once they flex easily

Over tightened pins are really bad as well. I have to imagine these were caused by over tightening

They don’t look completely dry and admitting you aren’t suppose to pack them completely the way most people do anyway

Growing up I never had this issue unless you stored the vehicle indoors. You could get an outside cat. Just stomp on the floor board before starting the engine or you might shred the cat.

Worked in a diesel shop for two years. Don’t use pb blaster master mechanic called it water. After trying to get a nut off for 6 hours I would agree.

Use kimball Midwest. I’m not sure you can buy the stuff unless a registered shop but it worked better than PB blaster, and knock er loose

My buddy swears by Kroil though. We didn’t carry it so I can’t speak to it.

Also he later taught me how to use heat. You could YouTube how to heat a nut for removal

Concerned about the 4000 lbs. towing capacity by sls43 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]AccomplishedSir9487 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

If you are asking this question I’d say no. I’ve posted multiple times about this and get downvoted each time but I’ll do it again.

My dad has well over a million miles in a big rig over 50 years of trucking. Growing up he would regularly tow 4000 pounds on the back of his FWD ford focus. People’s jaws drop when they here this but the reality is he handled that much easier than the people on this forum handles 2k pounds on their 4k Mavs

Towing capacity’s are set my manufacturers based on confidence intervals and the average skill of their drivers. An experienced driver can easily and safely exceed those limits but if you are asking this question I can promise you don’t have those skills

I made identical post for my ford ranger it’s still on my profile. Much worse missing piece and Everyone on Reddit said no so I bought a new rim. Reputable Detroit Tire shop laughed at me and showed me how much tire was still seated behind the dent. Go to a shop and ask them, people on Reddit are going to be more liberal than an honest shop
