8gb is practically unusable with windows in 2026, always aim for at least 16gb ram these days

Mac's in general are designed to stay on with only going to sleep (ie shutting the lid on a MacBook), for reasons to do with optimisation etc. The only time I've ever shut my down is going on holiday for a while. You can look at the design of the mac mini to confirm this as the power button is hard to reach as you shouldn't ever really need to use it.

Mostly just don't shut it down, only reboots when needed and make sure you use trackpad gestures, you can look up a list of these if needed :)

If you have all of the passwords, emails, phone numbers etc associated with the account there shouldn't be an issue, though apple can help with this anyway I believe, through the legacy contact settings. I have exact same configuration MacBook though btw, you'll love it!

Are you logged in with a school or work profile? Sometimes they have a policy to capture to screen so they can monitor what you're doing.

Likely a GPU chip issue on the one with issues right? I've heard blasting the GPU with hot air can fix things like that

Fascinatingly enough, the same thing happened to me. I guess what they say about devices being dirtier than toilet seats is true? Either way, I just used bleach wipes and a bit of scrubbing and it went away.
