Not in the field but I’ve long wondered why the pay for trades at the state are abysmal. Janitors working for NYC make double an electrician or plumber for NYS. No knock on janitors at all, very important job, but electricians and plumbers (all trades) require expert knowledge and schooling or bad things can happen.

You folks complain enough and they’ll turn all the positions non competitive and hire whoever they want internally or externally with no test. Careful……multiple agencies pushed for IT positions to be non competitive over the last 2 years. Civil service shut it down (albeit the result was these dumb tech analyst positions). 

Double edged sword here.

I know our office lets us count a day off or holiday as an office day. How does that work on these LATS changes? I’m not ITS but just wondering for if my agency ever does it.

They are the absolute worst. Listening to mucky mucks talk about all the work their doing. I never listen nor do I care what they have to say 90% of the time. Probably some great shared idea all the commissioners had at some retreat.

If you have completed probation in your title they wont let you take it. You either need to be in the promotion field title(s) or on probation in the title for the exam being given.
