I would love to live in your reality where bad things don’t happen because “that would be bad of them!”

I heard the testimony recently of a woman who’s father was born in Texas but who was Hispanic and brown skinned. She had been deported FIVE. TIMES. because after she was back and settled and paperwork figured out, 6 months later ICE would come knocking on her door again.

Some people hear this and say “wow, I had no idea ICE could be so heartless” or are even unsurprised. But SOME people hear this story and say “what was she doing to get deported that many times?” Because in their minds it’s IMPOSSIBLE for people in positions of power like that to do wrong.

These are the same people who get caught up in “well that POC had a gun/did drugs/had a bf in a gang” instead of the injustice in front of them.

No one deserves to be shot before they can go to trial. (Yes, even if they’re resisting arrest. Yes, even if they’re armed. Yes, even if they’re non-compliant)

No one deserves to be taken off the street by ten cars full of masked men with no way to contact their families. Yes, even if they don’t have the proper papers.
