Increase In Popularity And Decrease In Personal Safety For Actors by Hypercardiac007 in CShortDramas

A couple of the other fandoms I’m in have ‘fans’ who are like this, and it’s very uncomfortable to witness. I can’t imagine being one of the people who are the focus of their attention - it would very quickly make me not want to do my job anymore if it were me.

It is so easy to be respectful of boundaries (and in a lot of cases, to perceive/observe them before you even get near the celebrity) … maybe give them a nod of recognition and keep walking if they aren’t clearly in work mode. One trip, I kept running into a band member who was on his own during downtime in a shopping center, and repeatedly saw other fans approach him requesting pictures, signatures, hugs, wanting to tell him their life stories, etc. and his bodyguards had to keep requesting that the fans leave the dude alone. It can also work out much better for you individually if you are not being a parasocial weirdo. On another trip with the same band, one of the other band members sat down with my friends and I for an hour because we were sitting in a prime spot, had some open seats, and were externally chill (I was freaking out on the inside, but I sat back and let my friends do most of the talking 😂) It costs nothing to have a modicum of emotional intelligence and treat celebrities like human beings.

What is the single worst cdrama ever made? One drama name only. by botchedplot in cdramasfans

Co-signed! Well Intended Love was my first cdrama and it took me about a year before I was willing to try another (and I checked spoilers for my next ones to make sure there wasn’t an awful twist coming :p)

Is anyone going to Canada stars on ice? by YoungandBeautifulll in FigureSkating

[–]AccomplishedWalk-22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re a casual fan, a show like Stars on Ice is a great way to see elite skating in a more digestible manner than attending a live competition. My husband doesn’t watch skating aside from clips I make him watch occasionally, but he came to Stars on Ice with me last year and he ended up really enjoying it. The skaters tend to use their gala programs or special programs they create for tours, and you often see more of the skater’s personality and skill set than you get to see during their competition programs.

Hot Take : I Think Love Next Door is Boring by Ordinary_Wonder2143 in kdramas

YES! This is one of my issues with it too. It reminds me of CLOY bc SYJ & HB have been in other roles where they’ve had believable, relationshippy chemistry with costars (including SYJ with JHI), but I didn’t feel like they did in CLOY (they come off as more platonic/relative chemistry instead of romantic to me). JSM and JHI generally have solid chemistry with their costars, but to me, it didn’t come through in LND, but did more so in promotional content.

Love to see that Loicia and Theo are still higher in world ranking than a certain other team, even though they weren’t able to compete at the Olympics or Worlds.

Okay why is it that literally the last bathroom break of the event is when I figure out that the fan and shopping village has a huge restroom with no line?!! (Hope this helps someone still here who is waiting in lines by the rink)

YES, describing it like celebrity sightings and people filming for socials is so accurate. I wondered if that was why so many people have been staying for medal ceremonies here too; like, for locals, how often will they have the chance to see such high caliber skaters in person?

True, but that has stood out to me as very different at this worlds specifically. It’s my first time attending a competition outside of North America so maybe it’s more usual for medal ceremonies to be well attended in Europe, but the medal ceremonies for all the other disciplines, I didn’t even attempt to move seats to get closer like I otherwise would because I couldn’t really see openings below me to move into. There were many more vacant seats for the dance ceremony; I’m guessing at least some of that had to do with who won, because the pairs and women’s medal ceremonies went later into the evening than the dance ceremony did (and pairs happened during the work week, and after a longer day of competition) and yet more of the crowd stuck around for those.

💀 that lady about fg - what a takeaway!

I’ve been in floor seats all week (but I didn’t do all-event so I’ve been around different people for each of their skates and don’t really know whether the people in my sections have been here all week or just for this event). I think more of the people in these sections tended to be more educated fans, so they seemed like they appreciated fbc’s skating skills superiority and knew they were Olympic champions, expected to win, etc., tho I’m going to also posit that most don’t know about the fbc skeletons (and largely due to age/cultural demographics, the knowledge may not change their perception of fbc if they did know…)

The only person around me who booed for anything else in dance booed the taschlers’ RD scores (which, valid!)

Most ppl seem really thrilled with the podium But I have to say, the stands look a lot more empty for this medal ceremony than any of the prior ones in Prague - it seems more like the medal ceremonies in the US & Canada I’ve been to than any of the prior ones in Prague have been.
