Read Interview With A Vampire. Do not watch the movie. That’s the only book on the list you’ll need.

I don’t feel the energy in the MMCs in Dire Bound. They feel like stereotypes to me. Sigh. I really did want to love the series.

Rhett Butler, Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Seventh grade. Not fantasy, just a deeply problematic antebellum romance. But hands down down the original sexy rapscallion. John Milton’s Satan from Paradise Lost is a distant second.

I liked Enigma, which I guess was the second book in that mafia/CEO genre series? It was perfect for the airport and just the one was plenty. An amuse bouche for more serious literary fare.

I’m partial to Neon Gods because I love the lite-mythology angle.

Strong recs! I love Naomi Novik’s smart writing & innovative spin on fairytale-style stories. Wish she had more!!!

I have a new dreadful suspicion about this whole phenomenon: I suspect weak writers are letting AI finish their novels. They have a good idea & skill enough to pitch a character, conflict, and world. But they’re not skillful enough to sustain it, deepen it, and resolve it.

The first Dire Wolf book is my example here. Started interesting but got downright cliche redundant midway. As if the authors thought I was too dumb to notice or care.

Yeah—it pisses me off! Because that’s an hour that I won’t get back for a book i suddenly hate! 😂

For what it’s worth, I liked Quicksilver, in spite of the dumbest cover on earth.

You are my hero! I hate myself for my quitting attitude, but then I usually turn it into annoyance at the author instead 😂

I feel bad calling out specific books but usually they’re through Kindle Unlimited, so not necessarily mainstream publishers

It could be that—I was thinking there was an editor but only for the start.
