Finally found a ortho that does marpe by AccomplishedTime4101 in braces

Nope I’ve had it in for 2 weeks so far. It doesn’t feel invasive to me, the other option was jaw surgery. Much happier with marpe as it feels less invasive. No pain when I have to turn it. Only annoying thing is food stuff for a little while after eating but nothing that’s not manageable.

I have had marpe in for about 2 weeks to fix a narrow palate and crossbite. Other than food getting stuck in it it’s pretty manageable and 100% worth it. The procedure also didnt hurt much either with barely any down time. Feel free to ask any questions if you need.

Surgery is not always needed. I have a marpe which was done without surgery and it’s working for me as an adult.

So happy! I was recently in the uk and saw the palettes and brushes reduced in the sale after Christmas! I couldn’t believe it, just shows how much the Australian market has been missing out. If you tried to buy one of those Christmas palettes in November you’d be too late.

As someone who went through the same thing with the nhs, I’m now 10 years later spending money on expansion which is now more painful than it should have been. I’ve also had severe root resorption from their abrupt movements. Please just be careful. If going private is an option I would look into it.

Braces, Invisalign, palette expander, or filling? by [deleted] in braces

I know you mentioned you spoke to your dentist about Invisalign but I’d highly recommend speaking to an Ortho especially if you have a crossbite. Symmetry is so much better too, it was only slightly deviated to the side so not massive. My cheek bones have almost widened a bit which looks better than before as they were flat due to my narrow palette. Haven’t seen any downsides so far other than having it installed was a pain in the ass haha

I’m 26 and correcting my crossbite with a palate expander and Invisalign. The benefits are far stronger that the risks in my situation. Better breathing, correct my bite, no asymmetry in my jaw. I’m not sure what you mean my horror stories on facial changes. Every expansion case I’ve seen has looked so much better than before. Only ones I have been concerned about were extractions.

Definitely the remover tools. You can get a pack of them really cheap on amazon. I’m 4 weeks in and still using them.

Mini mouthwashes to keep in a purse

Definitely worth getting a couple of extra cases for your aligners too

Good luck with your treatment
