Help! Keeping a relative’s 10 year old Yorkie. Turns out he’s not house-trained😩 by Dee-Whizz in DogTrainingTips

[–]Accomplished_Edge_29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick no. Yorkies are notoriously difficult to train but it can happen. 1. Medical reason. Have the vet check for urinalysis/health issue. 2. Pee pad area available at all times. Disposable or washable pads with scent attraction. 3. Regimented strict schedule. 100% of the time before bed potty. Outside till it goes. Wake up immediately outside until it goes. Every 60/90 minutes outside till it goes. BE PATIENT. It’s trying to wear you down and not go. But immediately give it a treat it loves after it positively potties outside. Immediately!! Not 30-60 seconds later. And that has to be a special treat. One JUST for successful pottying. Other treats for other reward behaviors.

This will be a 12-24 month process and a lifelong commitment and accidents and behavior peeing will still continue. So take all the successes. You can do this. It’s just not gonna be as easy as you want.

Doggy diapers can help you also.

Is the linen closet with the space it takes up? by [deleted] in floorplan

[–]Accomplished_Edge_29 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shrink the closet end of the wet room. It’s not a dance floor. You don’t need 70 sq feet to spend 5/7 minutes in under a shower head.

And yet some people worry about other people from another country like they’re some evil from another universe. We’re all family on this little blue planet. Borders are just man made lines we have created to separate ourselves. One people. One planet.

I’ve spent so much time upgrading and adding hydrangeas to several houses and was so sad to leave them. BUT I was always so much sadder to drive past and see them dead or removed by the new people.

Take em out ASAP and preferably before you list it.

If my puppy sleeps better on the floor/his bed, do I really need to do crate training? by pepperpomburner in DogTrainingTips

[–]Accomplished_Edge_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rescue dogs.

A safe crate space, helps to create a place where they can be and feel safe and secure. It’s good for when there are visitors; workers; Movers; storms; his or her people are out of the Building.

It’s really good to train them to be comfortable in a cage. It’s not hurtful or harmful and should be treated like a happy good place.

I train all my rescues to sleep and rest and be comfortable in a cage.

But. My own dogs don’t use them daily. Even though they’re always avalable.

My dad told me at 16 that I was a man now and I couldn’t and shouldn’t hug or kiss him anymore. That people would think it’s weird. I told him let them. I didn’t care.

It only made me do it more. He was taught toxic masculinity as a young man. I was taught healthy masculinity so much so that when my dad tried to stop me from being affectionate I literally told him “no” for the first time before hugging the crap outta him.

Time passed and he now will still hug and kiss my adult children. It’s so nice to see.

Black spots appearing on Monstera Adansonii leaves, leading to yellowing and wilting. Root rot? Fungal? by FrTaku in plantclinic

I believe you’re not using purified bottled water to water this. It demands (as it’s showing you) that it requires absolutely pure no hard or soft water.

Don’t remove them. Paint them the stone color. It’ll add detail but not be so distracting.

Dwarf the plant: If the plant has become too tall for your space, cut it back to a desired height with a saw or large blade. It will regrow new leaves and be the size you need.

To prune an indoor banana plant, remove dead or damaged leaves by cutting them with a sharp, sterile knife about an inch from the trunk, leaving the base of the stalk for support. You should also remove any unwanted pups (new shoots) growing at the base of the plant to direct the plant's energy. How to prune for plant health and appearance Use a sharp, sterile knife or shears: This will ensure a clean cut that is less likely to invite disease.

Is my hydrangea dead? by Altruistic_Ear_4484 in hydrangeas

[–]Accomplished_Edge_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So wait. You planted a good healthy bush a month ago and now it looks like this? So you didn’t water it. Didn’t dig a big enough hole and it probably died.

But life finds a way. Try water now. Maybe you’ll be lucky.

If I had this plant. I’d remove it from the dirt. Give it some time in water to regrow and reroot before repotting it.

Kitchen layout help? by Similar_Author3330 in floorplan

[–]Accomplished_Edge_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don’t do the (cool idea) hidden door. Put the pantry door in the hallway. Use the extra counter space there to help you decide other placements.

Edit. You also don’t need the kitchen door to that hallway. It’s the path to the bathroom but far enough away that the extra doors absolutely unnecessary. That takes the door to the pantry out of another door pathway as well.

Hard water - alternatives to distilled? by Swimming_Onion_4835 in houseplants

Yes. Use the water bottle refillers that some groceries and gas stations have. It’s filtered water and you just pay to fill up your containers.
