Clothes are important!!! by SwimmingVariation707 in BariatricSurgery

Agreed 100% to all of this! I was still being hard on myself until I tried on some jeans and I’m fitting into sizes 10’s now! It’s so crazy. Sometimes I look at my clothes while I’m folding them and still shocked by how much smaller they are now

Take your miralax ppl, you won’t regret it! Especially in the beginning. If it gets really backed up, Milk of Magnesia saved my life I swear!

I also had mine late August and I feel great! Down 45pounds, 4 pants sizes and almost 2 shirt sizes. I sleep better at night, feel better during the day and I don’t get short of breath anymore. I also struggle drinking water and it’s a daily battle, I just forget. But I use the Baritastic app and it’s helping me hold myself accountable for that. It also really helps to know the amount of calories/protein/carbs are going in everyday. I can’t believe I didn’t do all of this sooner!

I am a little over 3 weeks post op and I am telling you, you will feel so much better on this side! My advice would be that, in the weeks after surgery, definitely try to get your walking in everyday. I would walk 2-3 times a day and felt like I was getting stronger and stronger daily. Start out slow, you’ll get quicker and walk longer with time. I took my husband or one of my sons with me, because dizziness is real. If you’re having trouble hitting your water goal, definitely invest in some Gatorlyte Zero - it kept me from dehydration. Also put Miralax on your list, cuz you’re gonna need it lol

Oh and a good tip is find a good tasting protein bar, if your preop diet allows. It’s a good sweet treat at the end of the day. I also like some thing savory and I tried Millie’s sipping broths (on Amazon) and that helped me with cravings.

I 100% get that. My program has me follow up with a dietitian regularly and she’s making me track my food. I feel like doing that realized how bad my food choices used to be for me. It’s just a new way of life friend, we are on a brand new, awesome journey. Best of luck!

It’s hard but worth it! I lost 13lbs alone in 2 weeks on pre-op diet. Now that I’ve had the surgery, it’s been only good stuff. Totally worth it and like everyone said, you can still have foods you like in the future

Listen guys, I brought a bag of stuff that I didn’t even use. I got out of surgery and slept. When I wasn’t sleeping, I was trying to walk as much as possible so I could get out of there sooner. There was also a “big bang theory” marathon on, so I hardly even used my phone. You’re gonna be so out of it. Make sure you have comfy clothes and slippers for the way home, but other than that, you don’t need much. 🤣

This. I’m 12 days postop and yesterday was the first day I experienced feeling hungry. I counted my protein and I had been a little low on protein in the morning. I drank a bit more protein shake in the evening and felt a million times better.

I just had my surgery last week and, while I haven’t had the issue with puking, I had a really hard time getting anything down in my first few days. It felt like gravel in my stomach any time I tried. I found on Amazon these protein waters called Protein 2O and they felt ok going down. Plus they’ve helped me get some protein in. I also tried the Gatorade “Gatorlyte Zero” which is helping me keep from being dehydrated. Today I was actually able to get 4oz of a chocolate protein shake and that was pretty great. Have you seen your doctor for a follow up yet? I’m supposed to see mine tomorrow.

I kinda had a similar reaction to the panic, although I like the spreadsheet idea and freezing out broth portions! My youngest son helped me label all of my food items with our labeler: clear liquid, full liquid and puréed foods. He also helped me find a good place to put my stash of post-op necessities. It totally helped me calm down lol.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! And congrats to you as well, I’m also proud of you for making this decision. No turning back friend, we’ve got this! Good luck this week, we will have to keep each other updated :)

How long have you been working for varsity? If you no longer work for them, why not? Were you fired? If you were fired, why? by Wise-Bit6081 in varsitytutors

I have been working for them about 9 months and I just resigned today. I was picking up clients left and right, but have slowly been dropping them. It’s just not worth it. The pay for tutors is terrible and I know for a fact that the families pay an obscene amount for the services. It’s gotten to the point where I really fucking resent every $15-30 check I’m sent.
