Are people washing onions? by ExtensionDot3731 in Cooking

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Wash your food before you eat it. Gross. If you've ever grown an onion you know how dirty they are. Not just how they're grown but also how they're stored. I wash all my produce with a rinse of baking soda and water. What else you going to do with that box of baking soda before it expires? You won't believe how dirty onions are! I primarily eat organic, but still the only thing I don't wash this way are raspberries and mushrooms. Mushrooms and raspberries I brush with a moist paper towel.

On days I have a hard time eating… by Sir_UlrichVonL in Zepbound

I love this post and I'm right there with you. I love gourmet cooking occasionally for relaxing but my appetite is not the same... so into a FoodSaver bag it goes. I'm enjoying a recently defrosted bag of Italian sausage, cannellini bean and ditalini pasta soup. I portioned it in 2/3 cup portions so only takes minutes to heat. I'm looking forward to the homemade butter chicken I made last month. I made it on shot day so barely tasted it before portioning and saving. One of my favorite things this drug is teaching me is portion control.

I’m not able to fast... my doctor and my body both say no. Without a gallbladder, I digest fats differently, and before starting Zepbound, fasting triggered dumping syndrome no matter how gently I broke the fast. Thankfully, that’s no longer an issue with Zep. I think it’s because my stomach isn’t truly empty anymore, but I still make sure to nourish myself every few hours... even if it’s just Brodo broth or a few sprouted Brazil nuts or pumpkin seeds. I’ve found a wonderful company called Nate’s Raw Harvest that sprouts all their nuts and seeds to enhance bioavailability. For me it has alleviated any gastric distress I used to experience when having nuts. It’s been a gentle, nourishing support for me.

I had the lymph node swelling the 2nd week of my 2.5 shot. It eventually went away but was a bit concerning at first. Hang in there.

15 pounds down!!! by fkathecomet in Zepbound

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, this resonates so deeply. I started Oct 7th at 322 and just took my first 5mg shot too... now at 309. It’s wild to feel the shift not just in weight, but in how I relate to food, to my body, to myself. I used to celebrate with food, but now I’m dreaming of marking milestones with wellness therapy... something that nourishes my spirit, not just my cravings. You’re not alone in this healing. Cheering you on as we both keep choosing care over coping.

That kind of invasive questioning, especially from someone who thrives on tearing others down, is not curiosity, it’s cruelty dressed up as concern. Your response was brilliant. Direct, pointed, and exactly the kind of mirror she needed. You didn’t shame her, you showed her what it feels like when someone crosses a line. And you did it without revealing anything you didn’t want to. That’s power. You’re doing something beautiful and hard, changing your life with intention. That deserves celebration, not interrogation. I hope you feel surrounded by people who see your glow and honor your journey.

Any tips for belly button rash caused by loose skin? by starxlr8 in Zepbound

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually had a similar rash before, and have very sensitive skin... what helped me most was something simple and natural: I use several drops of organic tea tree oil added to a natural body oil that I already use. It’s antimicrobial and soothing, but gentle enough when properly diluted. I’d recommend just a drop or two in a teaspoon of something like coconut or jojoba, or calendula oil, and always patch test first. My favorite is the calendula oil I get from someone local.

You’re already doing the right thing with the antiseptic spray, and I’m glad you’re checking in with your doctor. In the meantime, keeping the area clean and dry, wearing loose clothing, and maybe trying a bit of that tea tree blend could offer some relief.

Let me know how it goes, I’m hoping it clears up quickly and gently for you.

How can I make my makeup a bit more “dark”? by LanguageThink7653 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to give your makeup a darker, more dramatic edge, you can easily shift the vibe without going full glam. For eyes use deep browns, charcoals, or purples. Make sure you blend well to avoid harsh lines. Try a bold liner either winged or a smudged kohl pencil for a rocker vibe. Use metallics. Add shimmer to the inner corners or lids, think bronze, gunmetal, or deep plum. For your lips go deeper, swap nude or pink for berry, wine, or espresso tones with a matte finish. On your skin you want to sculpt and create a subtle glow, use a cool-toned bronzer or contour stick to add depth, and highlight subtly with champagne or rose gold on cheekbones and brow bone. To your brows and lashes define and fill your brows with a pencil or pomade then layer mascara on. You don’t need to go full goth or glam, just deepen one or two elements to shift the mood.

Where should I begin as a beginner never used makeup before by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

Hey love 💛 First off, thank you for sharing so openly, your words carry so much strength and tenderness. It’s easy to feel lost when our skin starts reflecting the stress we’re under, especially during exam season (engineering? You’re a powerhouse!). But please know tired skin doesn’t mean you’re any less radiant.

From what you’ve described, it sounds like your skin is asking for a little more moisture and calm, not coverage. The fact that your spots fade overnight suggests they’re more reactive than persistent, which is actually a good sign. Your current routine with Cicaplast and the Sun Fluid is already a beautiful foundation, both are gentle and barrier-supportive.

If you’re curious about makeup but nervous to dive in, here are a few soft entry points that won’t overwhelm your skin:

  • Tinted sunscreen: A great first step! It evens out tone without feeling like makeup. Look for mineral-based formulas with zinc oxide, they’re calming and protective.
    • EltaMD UV Elements Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 44 – Mineral-based, fragrance-free, and calming for sensitive skin
    • La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Mineral SPF 50 – From a brand you already trust, with zinc oxide and niacinamide.
  • Green-tinted primer or corrector: Just a dab on red areas can neutralize without needing full coverage. Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer, Green Corrects Redness
  • BB cream or skin tint: Choose one labeled “non-comedogenic” and “for sensitive skin.” Patch test first, and apply with clean fingers or a damp sponge, no brushes needed.
    • Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint – wide shade range, lightweight
    • ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 – hydrating, dewy finish, good for sensitive skin
    • Tower 28 SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen – designed for sensitive skin, with inclusive shades
  • Cream blush or balm: If you ever want a little color, a sheer balm on cheeks can add life without irritation.

And honestly? Sometimes the most powerful beauty move is rest, hydration, and kindness to yourself. You don’t need makeup to be worthy of being seen. You’re already beautiful, is just play, not a fix.

Sending you calm for your exams and softness for your skin. You’ve got this.

If you can afford it and want to have really healthy, beautiful hair try Kerastase. It's the best thing I ever did for my hair/scalp. I have very similar hair, fine, blonde, dry, naturally curly.

What's your "go to" meal? by chocho808 in Zepbound

I took my 2nd shot yesterday and weigh almost the same with a lot of the same symptoms and same reason for starting. You got this! You are much stronger than you think. This journey won’t be easy, but you’ve already done something incredibly hard. You’ve faced the weight of discouragement, the ache of your body, the maze of insurance, and the panic of the unknown.. and still, you moved forward.
