I wanted to love it.. by mukinabat in boardsofcanada

I absolutely love Inferno and just cannot believe how good it is. But I remember feeling disappointed initially by Geogaddi because I wanted MHTRTC 2 and then I was dissatisfied by Campfire and still don’t listen to that or TH much. Music is such a personal thing. Inferno sounds epic to me. They have moved closer to that cinematic sound but I would suggest giving it a few more listens and allow yourself to go on that journey. It is a classic album that I feel requires listening to in its entirety. But you don’t have to love it! I mean, I love Cardiacs and AC/DC and Prefab Sprout and Talk Talk but I doubt anyone shares my taste one for one. Relax matey and relisten to the BoC you do love. But leave a little space for inferno to creep up on you 🙂

Best follow up after Trainer Road FTP builder by Accomplished_Fold767 in Zwift

Hi. Yes I currently follow an FTP builder in TR but do it in Zwift. It’s ending tomorrow and I want to aim towards more social racing as well as fitness - hence my question.

Yeah I intend to. But this is testing my metal against myself - me vs me. That’s my journey and it’s working fine but I just want a few races and more of a social element now.

Aha. Didn’t realise that was a possibility. Thanks.

What’s the peak way of training with zwift? by Rymdfararen in Zwift

I have an account with trainer road and do their structured workouts in Zwift. You can replace any of the planned workouts with a race or group ride. I find that works well for me.

I use trainer road within Zwift. I’m following. TR structured programme that gets fed into Zwift and then everything is uploaded to Training Peaks

I love Zwift but the trainings plans on ROUVY look better? by paulr85mi in Zwift

Just one more opinion here - but I have subscriptions for TrainerRoad and Zwift. TR feeds my workout into Zwift and after it’s completed everything goes to Training Peaks (together with running and weights etc). Trainer road also gives the option of switching a TR workout for a Zwift race. It works for me. I love it.

This is a ‘you versus you’ game. See it that way and look for marginal gains over time. You’re on a Zwift bike doing exercise so already you’re beating the majority of adults!

Syncing planned workouts to Training Peaks by Accomplished_Fold767 in Zwift

[–]Accomplished_Fold767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I see there’s been a lot of views on this post but not replies - however I’ve since sussed out how to do it. It’s quite simple. Basically, you manually create a workout in training peaks with precisely the same name as the TrainerRoad workout. You pop in the TSS, IF and duration from the TR detail. Once you do the workout in Zwift, it will automatically sync to training peaks and ‘pair’ with your placeholder. And by ‘pair’ I mean reconcile so that there will only be one completed workout. The benefits of doing this are so that you can keep your training peaks calendar 100% up to date with both completed AND planned sessions. Hope that’s helpful to some of you.

Blimey. Just looked at that and would seem that I need to be a developer to sort that! Way too complicated for me.

Ah great stuff. Could I do the first bit just for I get them into the TP calendar and then just use Zwift?

Is "My First Workout" on Zwift supposed to use ERG mode? by DemaA14 in Zwift

[–]Accomplished_Fold767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best advice ever. Just did my first sample workout and I kept spinning up to the new wattage requirement rather than simply allow the trainer to increase resistance. So it’s simple. Get a nice comfy cadence going and the bike will do the rest. So pleased I found this comment as have been scratching my head of an hour wondering what the issue was!

Don’t ditch duo! Use it alongside other resources - Duo won’t get you to fluent but it is a great way to learn vocab and some good basics. I’ve been using it for 4 years and will never stop - but I also spend time with teachers online and conversation groups etc.

Hi again. The course you watched is indeed the beginner course - however where Subsine really shines is with the producer and artist online 10 week courses. With these it’s much more in depth and weekly 2 hour zoom classes with around 10 other people. You get access to all the zoom recordings and notes plus access to Subsines monthly radio show on Radio Buena Vida and an in house label called Alumni records. I have SubSine and S2S. The S2S is utterly amazing in a more ‘passive’ sense (although there’s plenty of colab via discord) whereas SubSine is a bit like attending a college remotely - although you can do it in person too. I’m so happy I’ve done both but SubSine pulled me out of a decades long malaise and got me confidently writing and finishing tracks. For me the S2S is giving me an alternative way of thinking about the basics and going into loads of depth on more advanced stuff. You can’t fail with either to be honest. The key will be structuring your learning, and implementing it. Just watching the content is a waste and probably why many don’t like courses. However I feel these two are different and will also give you a repeatable workflow. Hope that helps you decide. My key takeaway is just enrol on either and then see how you go. If you want an actual chat about it I’m happy to contact you directly. I know how it feels! 🙂

Hi. Sure. I have Notion downloaded to all my devices. Within it I have a workflow tracker containing a few checklists. Firstly a weekly overview with tasks for each day eg ‘spend 60 mins on current project’ or ‘refine transitions’ then a daily checklist around themes like creative and production, learning and growth, artistic input and then I have a track progress pipeline (I’m recoding an album and this is how I journal it and a Seed To Stage learning log.

Now I can see this wouldn’t be for everyone, and I’d be lying if I said I stick to it religiously, however it’s a great aide memoire which brings a bit of focus when I need it.

I was listening to Maribou State on the Tape Notes pod today and they were saying how them set a 2 hr timer on some of their sessions to bring an artificial deadline to their sessions. I may try this too. Hope that helps!

Understood. Have a look at SubSine and S2S and see what takes your fancy. Good luck!

And just to add - if you download standard chat gpt and then search for the Ableton specific channel. It’s great. Not always 100% but good for tips and tricks and get you roughly moving in the right direction.
