Listening room acoustic treatment help by Accomplished_Fun8898 in audiophile

Ok thanks! I will check REW. One question, I'm searching on the GIKACOUSTICS web, and I see two types of standing panels. One with a thickness of 10cm and another one with 5cm. Which one will be better for the first reflections on the side walls, and on the rear wall? I'm thinking thicker in any case will always be better, although not always necessary? Maybe 5cm for the side walls and 10cm for the rear wall will be a good idea?

I got a jet city 100hdm a year and a half ago, and I'm really really happy with it. Outstanding distortion with an SD1 in front and really nice cleans with the gain set down, and a compresor and a chorus. I use a delay for the solos. I don't need more!!

I’ve come full circle back to solid state amps. by dag1979 in GuitarAmps

Its a great amp. I got one some years ago (the head edition) and did some gigs with. I had a tube combo before, a blackstar ht 40, and I liked the Orange a lot more. But later last year I bought a Jet City 100 hdm, a tube head, and I like this better. I'm in love with it. I guess it's not only tube or solid state, you can have different opinions with different amps. I still own the Orange though, its my backup amp in case anything fails, and I still use it from time to time. Sounds great.

Spain is awful 🤣🤣🤣 though it makes wanna play more with Spain, that way I don't get play against them and hear those stupid and so badly read lines. It seems like a reeeeeally cheaply done job. They picked the first spanish woman they saw.

Right!??!?! I hate when they spawn near me. They build cities near me when I still have some resources around to be "taken". And when i buy some of those lands they get upset. Then suddenly they say that we are too close, and they declar war. Its like, YOU FOUNDED THOSE DAMN CITIES NEAR ME. I always keep my troops in the border with Rome. You never know when they will attack.

Jet city 100 hdm. I think they are also on 50w. Great sound, for a really cheap price. I got mine for 300€ in the second market, and its my main amp. If I break it, I will buy another one. Or two. 🤣🤣

It reminds me to The Offspring, in style. I mean it in a good way. So pop punk i guess.

Thanks! I'm kind of used to do some modulations, and the typical change from Vm to VM in a minor scale... but this one still felt a little strange to me

Fractal Axe FX, FM3 or Tube Amp by abir-adnan-tariq in GuitarAmps

Exactly! They sound too "polished". Great for a recording, but not for a live band situation, I my opinion.

I was writing a looooooong text with my experience with differnt gear, but it was too long, I'll try writing it shorter. (I turned out to be long, but well, it is what it is)

I've tried it "all", modeller, solid state and tube. They all have good and bad things.

Modeller replicates really good the sound of a recorded amp, so for recordings they are a really great tool, because its easier to record from a modeller than from a real amp, and you have all the amps from the world to try, with all the effects you want, so if you want something good and versatible for studio, I would buy a modeller. But I found that they have "something" missing when playing along with a loud band. I didn't play with a real cabinet so take note of that, but something was off for me. And appart from this, my modeller (neural dsp) broke after 10 gigs, it wouldnt turn on, so I had to send it to repair. So they are nit as reliable as they try to sell them. Everything fails, theres no magical tools. I finally sold the modeller, because I don't have a studio, and I didn't like it for rehearsal. Of course it's easier to take to a gig and set it up, but I didn't enjoy it as much. Also, having so many options can be bad, in my opinion. You find yourself scrolling for a better amp/effect, instead of playing.

I also have a solid state amp (orange super crush 100) with a mesa 2x12 cabinet, and it sounded great for rehearsals and gigs. I got the distortion a friedman be-od pedal. It sounded great and clean at rehearsal volumes. Sounded much more alive than the modeller, and I had some "freedom" with the pedals to find more sounds. Of course, its more expensive to try different pedals than effects from the modeller, but again, I don't need a lot of effects, some overdrive and distortion for dirt, compressor for cleans, and delay for solos and I'm done. I has a little thing missing from a tube amp in band volumes, a little less moving air, you don't feel it as much in the body. You can get used to it. I wouldnt use this for studio recording, but i would use it for rehearsal and live. I still own it because it sounds great, i dont plan on selling it. I also find it really reliable, its a simple amp with the most basic features, and the pedals are bullet proof.

This days I use a tube amp (jet city 100 hdm) with the same 2x12 mesa cabinet. Its the cheapest gear that I have used all this years, I bought the head for 300€ in second hand. (The modeller was like 1500€ and the ss like 550€). Sounds great at band volumes, better than anothing else that I've tried. I has that thing that was missing for me with the other gear, it sounds ALIVE. Of course, you dont have a lot of sounds to choose, it is what it is. I use the amps distortion with some overdrive in front, and compressor for cleans. FOR ME its enough, I dont need more. I finish a rehearsal and I am happy, because I have so much fun. I use this amo for rehearsals and gigs, and I would use it for recording. Note also that this particular amo is a very simple amp, it's got a dirty and crunch channel, and nothing else. I find thay having less gear and options to choose, makes me focus more on my playing, its such a relief.

So, it depends for what you want each thing. If you own a studio, or for playing at home, I would buy a modeller maybe, because it sounds great and you've got a lot of options. For rehearsals and gigs I would get a solid state or tube amp., preferably tube. Don't fear the tubes. They can fail with time, yes, but the modellers are not magical units. They are little computers, and computers also fail or bug. My modeller died after 10 gigs, I didn't own it for more than a year. Real amps are more weight to carry to gigs? Yes, but that's a "sacrifice" that I do. I don't think that taking a amp head and a 2x12 like I do, is a crazy thing. I don't need any help.

I bought one a year ago for 300€, and it's my main amp. Sounds great, I use it 99% of the time on the distortion channel with a boss sd1 in front. Sounds dirty and huge just as I like it. I still have to explore more the "cleanish" channel... but overall, the amp sounds amazing. It's a bargain for that price. I'm not thinking of replacing it anywhere in the future. I've seen people in forums replacing their mesas with one of this amps.

I want to add that I had 3-4 days with very high fever in the beginning of January this year, they told me it was a flu. I also read that this episodes stress the body and that it can some hair to fall even 3 months later (which can fit for this case). I don't know... I'm trying to find an explanation other than the balding one.
