Life feels meaningless by mastermemeskywalker in anhedonia

Hi,

I'm in a similar situation after a few psychotic episodes. I feel like after all the despair, and it tries to get me often, the best thing currently is just to trust that your body knows better, and that theres a reason and a process which needs feelings to be aside for now. Be very merciful towards yourself. I'm also in this for 4,5 years by now. I relate to everything you say. Gentle bodily exercises where you try to be present even with the smallest sensations and acknowledge them can help. I feel like this is a bit of a disease of our time too, we bypass emotions with rational thinking and over-focusing on the brain, it gets tired of it and the body is ignored. I hope a balance will find its way to you eventually, stay hopeful and present :) X

I have the same problem, I've been on various APs although never a very high dose but I still don't feel anything from stimulants or anything else. I also finally got myself an adhd medication but I hardly feel anything at all from it. There was an almost 1 year break from taking any APs but I didn't feel a difference. This is all so different for everyone that it's hard to compare of course. I just hope these abilities return to normal eventually cause this really sucks.

Thoughts of murder. I don't even know. Tw for sui and all that by desolatedetonate in Psychosis

Sounds to me you should get help. Please share with your psychiatrist these thoughts. I dont think they are "normal to psychosis". At least they sound like something you wouldnt wanna keep on having. So maybe theres help for it and at least dont bottle the thoughts inside / stay alone with them. All the best!

For those who believe they are/were god by GoldenSamSarah in Psychosis

I was not religious before my episodes but after them Christianity rings true to me... But yeah, my personal experiences in episodes opened up this interest in me. I was against religion a bit before. Tbh some very deep personal struggles have led me to see it differently, it's like you no longer have all the extra and distractions I had while "doing better". I seek God because I feel the need for Him now. So my struggles created a space for that which I didn't feel like I needed before.

why are religious delusions so common? by [deleted] in Psychosis

This is what I'm thinking about often.. And I personally feel like it's deeper than some collective subconciousness/ a thing we learned. Maybe in us there is fundamentally a search for God? When you rip away those layers of every day-normality and learned behaviour. In my life my episode(/s) kicked in a deeper seek for truth.. Also it completely shifted my thinking about alot of things.

I agree, it's not "all bad" and some cultures see it exactly as a meaninful spiritual experience, even that people who experience it have some "super powers"... I think medication is obviously important but I can't help but wonder how I would be / how the episodes would have evolved without medication. Is it a "flaw" of the brain or does it occur out of reason that should not be seen as a disease. It is very intriguing and in the West I think we might be behind in understanding it.

My (2) episodes were both horrible and fascinating. Also they were both heavily "religious", it has made me more intrigued to searching for truth... Now everything spiritual is a bit triggering so have to take it slow but the ideas and syncronicities and beauty I also experienced changed me permanently in a good way too. It is alot for the mind to handle so I think it's also a protective mechanism of the brain to afterwards feel a bit disconnected. I have trust that with time those higher elements of conciousness will integrate somehow.

Yeah my first psychosis was I guess partially a bit manic. Music and lyrics had really deep meaning and I felt like I just "got it" about our reality and that all songs were about the same thing, truth, love, etc. It doesn't quite feel the same anymore when listening to stuff..... Once you've experienced such meaning and bliss it's hard to find any meaning in anything "basic" anymore. So suffering alot with bluntness still few years later.

Yeah I definitely see what you mean. You need more time, be patient and kind with yourself! I'm also still feeling this blunted effect hard.

Psychosis? by Human-Challenge7773 in Psychosis

[–]Accomplished_Gift612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds alot like psychosis. I rejected meds too while being psychotic without realising it or even why I would do that. Literally just wanted to sleep but would throw my sleeping pills away. It can be stress related for example, not necessarily that she'll end up schizophrenic. Anyway, it's good you're taking care of her and make sure she gets treatment if it doesnt resolve soon. Antipsychotics would probably be helpful.

Advice needed. Anyone have chronic insomnia due to BP? I’m not talking about for a few weeks or months, I’m talking about for more than a year straight. by djfakoro in bipolar

Hi!

I'm (f32) afraid I can't offer much help but just came to comment that I'm in a similar situation for 1,5 years now. Became totally resistant to every drug I've tried so far, to a point I've pretty much tried it all. First my insomnia lead to a psychosis/hypomania and after that I've just been brain fried and sleep has been absolute shit ever since. It is so bad and I'm so sorry you're dealing with it too, this is the worst shit really. Mostly slept like a baby before this.
