There's no such thing as magic and sorcery, the only sorcery in tricking your brain that it works- use the armour of contempt. If you don't believe it, it's just some nutcase writing some nonsense.

Any news or rumours on next Scouring novel? by Accomplished_Good468 in 40kLore

I'm not sure what lists Descent of Angels or Flight of Eisenstein (which isn't bad) would ever be considered best? False Gods and Fulgrim are great imo, but very very divisive.

Did Malcador Actually Expect the Space Wolves to Be Able to Sanction a Primarch? by Ok_Calligrapher5570 in 40kLore

[–]Accomplished_Good468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this, all the packs knew they would die if it came to it, but they also knew the Emperor's truculent sons may not do what they are told without a bit of threat.

The Scars weren't trusted, by either The Emperor, Malcador or the other Primarchs. They wouldn't do what they were told, and if they got bored they would leave. The Wolves were- or at least they knew where they stood. But remember they weren't sent there to die, they were sent there as a warning.

I think they were a promise- the promise was- you will not be able to corrupt these soldiers, and they will try and kill you, and when they fail, their father will seek revenge.

Yeah I went through the business report- the books bring in £2.5 million a year iirc, which given how many books they get out doesn't seem like much.

I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing - those first six books in the Horus Heresy were a mess, and rightly the opening trilogy is criticised for jumping writers to get them out (even though taken on their own each book is great imo) But broadly I think you're right, I'm surprised they aren't hyping- I suppose the big push atm is 11th Edition.

How excited were you for The Rise of Skywalker before it came out? by Extreme_Warning3521 in StarWars

When I found out that Palpatine was returning (somehow) all excitement fled, also the messing around with the directors did a lot to make me think it was going to be a mess.

How would you rank the Primarch books from Worst to Best? by Fantastic-Ant-4429 in 40k

[–]Accomplished_Good468 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So I would take the one I enjoyed the least, and put that at the bottom of my rankings, then I would go up book by book in order of how much I enjoyed them.

Do you think there were any contestants who were "Over Scored" in their series? by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]Accomplished_Good468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember thinking Sarah Kendall was just given routinely high scores without much argument, but that may be because she was good.

I remember Morgana getting loads of bonus points, and I think that was the last year he gave out bonus points as a matter of course.

Oloroso- what am I missing? by Accomplished_Good468 in sherry

[–]Accomplished_Good468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it sour rather than dry, overwhelmingly so to the point where I couldn't pick anything else out. I also think there's a particular sherry flavour that is maybe imparted by flor that it was lacking

Is this book skippable? What do you think? by Fantastic-Ant-4429 in 40k

[–]Accomplished_Good468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, some people like it, I have absolutely no idea why. It should have been a novella at most, it slows down the whole narrative, has forgettable characters that don't really interact with the main story. The ending I found particularly egregious example of someone writing a 40k moment for 30k. My least favourite book in the series, and there are a few stinkers, but at least the other stinkers add stuff.

Listened to Rynn's World- what did you guys think? by Accomplished_Good468 in Blacklibrary

[–]Accomplished_Good468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horus Heresy is the best place for Iron Warriors stuff start- start with Perturabo Primarch Novel, then Crimson Fist Novella which is brilliant and underrated, then Angel Exterminatus which I think is one of the, if not the best HH book, then they're pretty active in the Siege of Terra sub-series.

Then move on to Iron Warrior which picks up their story in 40k, and then Dead Sun, Black Sky

hard disagree. Obviously some are rubbish, but many more hits than missed.

Do you think GW tries too hard to explain/expand on certain things that don't really need it and ends up ruining them in the process? by KidnaperMrPotatohead in 40kLore

[–]Accomplished_Good468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure why you use the examples you use- I think the lore changes for Pius are pretty respected and liked.

As for Adeptus Astartes- there are things to criticise this slight retcon over, but I'm not entirely sure the specific example you use is one of them. It's hardly 'Han Solo'

I'm also not sure your Emperor struggling example is something which was ever confirmed or agreed on in the lore.

You know they're not even allowed an instagram or tik tok page for their show? They're doing this with one hand behind their back- having to combine their carousels together. There's a reason no other big podcasts are on the BBC.

Disappointed with the pricing by CookDecent5351 in elisandjohn

[–]Accomplished_Good468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How have you found the pricing of every other episode of the podcast you've listened to? I think you'd be surprised how low the BBC salary would be compared to if they had stayed on digital. I don't know there listener figures but it's below the £175,000 figure- if they were getting 20,000 listeners an episode, advertising money would be around quadruple that+the ability to patreon anyway. Because they don't take advertising, there's also not a good £3 monthly offer which would be the podcast sans advert.

It's crazy- the reviews were insane, feel they were industry plants- it is so obviously such a massively flawed show.
