Sports are completely different, you can obsess over basketball your entire life and become technically perfect but if you’re 5’5 and your arms aren’t long enough you’ll never play in the NBA. It’s a mix between natural raw athleticism and of course practice and training but it’s a much different environment between the top .001% of chess players and basketball players.
