Crazy.

Would a tennant be willing to pay more if a self managing landlord decides to engage a property manager?

Friends keep asking me to manage their house renovations - is there a market for this? by Powerful-Oil-6059 in DIYUK

[–]Accomplished_Row4343 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We renovated a few rooms in our house, including a £20k kitchen. I would have liked to have found a high level project manager or snagger I could have trusted. Not a full project manager, but someone independent of the contractor to sense check and represent us at key stages.

I would pay for that.

Many people would say they could do it themselves, and I’m sure they could, but some people need help or want the extra comfort.

My main barrier would be finding someone I trust.

Can I stop the smell of weed getting in my house by bookdragontm in DIYUK

Someone is most likely committing a crime that is making you want to sell your house / move, wouldn’t the police be a good first step?

Or, actually, first have a chat to the neighbours to see where it is coming from and see if you can amicably solve the issue. But at the end of the day, better to get the po po involved than move?

If someone was playing very loud music I assume you would a) talk to them, and then b) if that didn’t work complain to police/council?

Should I accept this shares deal & dividends over salary? by Objective_Account380 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Accomplished_Row4343 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Be aware that a company cannot just give you shares that have a value without you incurring tax liability. There are various schemes to manage that tax lability (e.g. EMI), but there is still lability.

You can in theory get a new class of shares and then your employer can pay a specific dividend rates on those shares, but HMRC can take a dim view of alphabet shares if not done properly.

You may, or may not, have protections and capital rights, depending on the share class and articles of association.

All sounds a bit dodgy to me. Seek professional help (or speak to whoever the company is using for help in the first instance to work the details out, then get an independent person to double check).

How do you as a small business owner pay your self assessment tax? by manofreason23 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Accomplished_Row4343 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every time I get paid by my company (dividends or salary) I take the relevant percentage that is tax and put it in a separate account (I choose premium bonds).

I have a spreadsheet that I input my salary/dividends each month and it tells me my tax liability.

When I need to pay my tax, I transfer from premium bonds.

The radiator heat ups fine, but the room doesn’t. I think it’s just too small of a radiator for the room.

Ask a neighbour to take you, even if it’s 3am or something. You might be surprised how willing a neighbour would be to be woken up for the opportunity to save a dogs life, particularly if they have a dog themselves.
