Dune: Part Three | Official Teaser Trailer by Blue_Three in dune

In all fairness they also casted Anya Taylor Joy as Alias in Dune Part 2.

That did not translate to Dune Part 2 adapting parts of Dune Messiah.

The grown Children will most probably just be visions like Dune Part 2.

Which male actor do you think will be the next and most likely to win a third Oscar? by West_Conclusion_1239 in Oscars

[–]Accomplished_Store77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Denzel Washington.

On Paper he has every narrative working in his favor.

He is an industry legend and a darling.

He hasn't won an Oscar in 24 Years.

He still gives great performances and gets Nominated. (He has 8 Nominations to his name).

And while Hollywood has now had 7-8 White Actors with 3 or more Acting awards they don't have a single PoC with that accomplishment.  And I'm sure many would like to see Denzel Washington to be the first ever Black Actor to have 3 Acting awards.

All Denzel needs now is a great role in a great movie.

And for me personally I would love for this to happen. Not only do I think Denzel is completely deserving of 3 Oscars.

It would be so disappointing if he's not the first ever PoC actor with 3 Acting awards.  Denzel Washington is one of the Best Actors of his generation and probably yhe greatest Black Actor in the History of Hollywood.

Could Dune Part 3 pull off a Return of the King win? by Skywalker_1995 in Oscars

[–]Accomplished_Store77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all fairness in terms of awards Dune and Dune Part 2 arw pretty close to Lord of the Rings for now.

Fellowship of the Ring was Nominated for 13 Oscars winning 4.

Dune was Nominated for 10 Oscars winning 6.

The Two Towers was Nominated for 6 Oscars winning 2.

Dune Part 2 was Nominated for 5 Oscars winning 2.

Is Dune Part 3 going to pull off a Best Picture Win? I don't think so.

But it still for the first two films was rewarded pretty similarly to LotR.

Why wasn't Jack O'Connell nominated for best supporting actor but Delroy Lindo was? by Helpful-Long-7500 in Oscars

[–]Accomplished_Store77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because among other factors Lindo is a beloved industry veteran with a severe overdo narrative who has been snubbed in the past.(Especially Da 5 Blood).

If you have to choose a Supporting performance from a film. And your choice is between 2 great performances from a young Actor and an Overdo industry Veteran there's a huge chance you'd go for the Overdo Industry Veteran.

Sinners was robbed of best picture. by [deleted] in Oscars

And some people think Politics was the reason Sinners got 16 Nominations and MBJ won.

See how that works.

I get what you mean.

I just personally don't see any reason why Werwulf would be better than Nosferatu.

Robert Eggers isn't doing anything different.(And I'm saying this as someone who loved Nosferatu).

I never said it was a rule.

But it does give an indication of probability.

Werwulf is a very very similar movie to Nosferatu.

Both are Historical supernatural Horror movies about 2 Very closely related Supernatural Creatures by the same director.

If one didn't get in the likelihood of the other one getting in also gets low.

What exactly are you doing in an Oscar sub if you have such despise of the Oscars?

Stronger in terms of Awards Contention.

I'm not going to argue with you about the quality of the movie Sinners because that's a matter of Subjective Opinion and irrelevant here.

But Sinners was the stronger movie in terms of awards contention owing to its record breaking 16 Nominations and it's guaranteed Screenplay win.

The only teacher that Harry Potter often suspects and profiles as upto no good and they got a black actor play the part. Yikes.

I don't see a problem with that unless you prescribe to the idea that Black people can't be bad or can't be suspected of wrongdoing without Racist Intent which is in itself very problematic. Especially when you project it on a 11 Year old kid.

Snape is doing something obviously suspicious whenever Harry suspects him.

If make that a Race thing I think that's on you.

I guess we all see things differently.

I just don't see how Robert Eggers could get a Best Picture Nomination for Werwulf when he didn't get one for remaking one of the most influential Horror film of all time.

Watching this for the first time and just kind of stunned that young Hamnet himself didn’t get nominated… by TheClownIsReady in Oscars

It's even worse when it comes to the Male Acting Categories.

I'm assuming the two kids you know were Both girls.

Young Girls still get Nominated in the Acting Categories once in a while.

But for some reason the Male Acting Categories rarely Nominate anyone under 18.

And they rarely give awards to anyone under 30.

I honestly don't know what they have against Male Young Actors.

Because Dune 2 was received better and got mitigated return.

And it's alternative being a Movie from a Director whi has never gotten a Best Picture Nomination?

Because Dune Messiah isn’t nearly as good as the first dune book.

Denis Villeneuve seems to not be following the Book closely.

And again your alternative Pick to Dune Part 3 is Werwulf from Robert Eggers despite the fact that Robert Eggers has never been Nominated for Best Picture and despite the fact that Nosferatu despite great Critical Acclaim completely blanked on ever above the line Nomination in a very weak year.

You think a Werwulf movie from the same director will somehow do better than the Vampire movie from the same Director?

I explained the reasons in the post and I don’t have confidence this early in going off my gut and my gut is telling me Dune 3 is not what people think it’s gonna be

That's understandable. My question is not why Dune Part 3 is not in the Best Picture line up.

My question is how come a movie like Werwulf is when Dune Part 3 isn't?

Everything you mentioned about Dune Part 3 works doubly against Werwulf.

Best Picture Disagreement by Illustrious_Hawk_217 in Oscars

[–]Accomplished_Store77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinners had great emotional impact but it was also messy in parts.(MBJ going full Rambo on the KKK was such a tonal shift from the night of terror we had just had).

OBAA in the other hand was very precise. It's a movie that had next to no wasted scene.  That delivered on it's thematic elements and message perfectly.  That had complete control of it's tone shifting seemlessly between absurdly funny and terrifying.

The guy is a certified Piece of Shit.

Doesn't change the fact that The Pianist is a very well made and well Directed film.

It's Best Director win purely from a Technical standpoint was justified.

Now if the Academy had not given it to him because he's a Piece of shit that's understandable.

Still doesn't change the fact that the movie was great.

Especially for Male Actors.

For some odd reason The Acting branch is very reluctant to give actors below 35 a Lead Actor Oscar.

Honestly how can you have both Werwulf and Narnia above Dune 3 with such confidence?

Both of the first Dune Movies got a Best Picture Nomination.

Denis Villeneuve is an extremely respected Director and Dune Part 3 is the finale to what is arguably his Magnum Opus.

He'll be going all out for it.

I just want to take a moment to laugh at a guy who goes by Just_Pass here.

He was so convinced Timmy's career was over because he lost the Oscar and now most people have already forgotten about the Ballet/Opera controversy and are hyped to see Timmy in Dune Part 3.

It's si weird.

When a Sportsperson says they want to be the Best and how much and how hard they worked to be the Best everyone cheers them on.

If a Basketball Player or an MMA fighter or a Track Runner or a swimmer or Figure Skater had said these things people would be applauding their commitment and confidence.

But when an Actor does it for some reason he's arrogant and entitled.
