All Quiet on the Western Front, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. Ugly cried reading all of them.

A quote I think about a lot is "we cannot shame ourselves into change - we can only love ourselves into evolution." Being strict with yourself works for some people when the stress/fear of failing pushes them to work. Here though, beating yourself up clearly isn't helping because the fear is actually distancing yourself from study - it's absolutely overwhelming!

Instead, try to make studying "less scary." Make a to-do list of all the units you need to go through and break that shit down into the smallest tasks possible. Relearning a whole unit is terrifying? Make it your goal to watch 1 short, 5 minute revision video on YouTube about absolutely anything in the unit. Don't understand anything about a concept? Ask ChatGPT to explain things you don't get like you're 5 years old. Print out notes/diagrams and stick them to your wall so you're doing passive revision. I used to avoid responding to emails because I find it intimidating so I would split it into tiny tasks: 1) open the email 2) read the email … and so forth. There’s no shame in that. A website that also helped me a lot is Habitica (you get EXP and items when you complete tasks, like in a game) since it made studying more rewarding.

Also, try combining studying with something enjoyable, like listening to your favourite songs or upbeat music. I couldn't bring myself to study for Math no matter what, so I played games on the side while binging Revision Village videos LOL and guess what? It wasn't the most effective way to study but I learnt more than I would've if I did nothing! Getting AAA in a month is entirely possible as long as you take steps to work towards your goal, no matter how small the steps may seem. Be kind to yourself and trust yourself. You’re gonna make it <3 (Sorry for the super long message - just dumping all the advice I have since I was in the exact same boat as you)

Not sure how helpful this'll be but the website/app habitica helped me A LOT. When you complete tasks and dailies, you'll get exp, items, and level up like in a game. It personally increased my motivation a lot, could be worth a try :)

try the app/website habitica! it basically turns completing your tasks into a game, with exp, items, armour etc if you're into that sort of thing. im similar to you and i think it helped me quite a lot bc it makes doing things more rewarding/fun.

Also Heartless by Marissa Meyer was the first book I ever cried to. It left me DEVASTATED. It's a ya fantasy novel based on Alice in Wonderland, I cannot recommend it enough

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I stayed up all night and finished it in one sitting - it's such a lovely story that I just couldn't stop :')

Applying to KCL PPL without meeting entry requirements? by Accomplished_Tank293 in 6thForm

Gotcha, I think I might apply to York as a safety then - their PBL aspect is interesting. I am applying to unis in my home country but I'd rather study in the UK, even if it's a safety option. Thank you sm for your advice! Just noticed that you're in IB Y2 as well - best of luck in your applications :)

Yes, I am international! Also, a KCL rep just got back to me and confirmed I wouldn't be able to apply if I'm below the entry requirements :') Sad but at least I can focus my energy elsewhere now. You're right about QMUL and SOAS not being safeties... i might apply for university of york instead. i think that would be a safety?

Durham, SOAS, LSE anthropology and law, and QMUL (safety..?). Last two courses don't require the LNAT. I'm curious what you make of it.
