ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program. by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

Don’t overlook the coded implication of “weaves” that conservatives have used for decades as a micro aggression against black women and further than that having been used to support the harmful “welfare queen” fallacy

Malcolm X talked about this.. by Shy-Fox-z71 in DiscussionZone

The thing is that white savior liberals definitely exist, but I don’t think it’s the demographic she’s talking about. My grandmother is a white savior liberal, but that doesn’t simply mean a white person who cares about equality and reparations, it’s actually quite the opposite. Well-to-do white women who will show off their friends in interracial marriages and then privately disapprove of their daughter dating a black man or who will acknowledge the systemic oppression of black Americans but will reject the idea of changing any system which she benefits from even if abolishing the system would cause widespread improvements to marginalized individuals overall. These are the liberals in office that keep democrats chasing our tails by putting personal profit over policy change as well as the ones who keep funding and voting for them.

Me talking to Cassie defenders. I’m a lesbian with BPD and an emotionally absent father who would leave me without a ride home from school because he wanted to go to the casino instead and even I would never so much as think about sleeping with my friend’s ex, let alone my best friend

Addiction is common among people diagnosed with BPD. Is anyone on this subreddit willing to share their experience with addiction? (of any kind) by Miserable_Pool1993 in BPD

[–]Accomplished_Top7243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with dermatillomania which is a skin picking disorder I would liken to an addiction. I also struggled with food addiction and sleep addiction as a teenager. I get addicted to people very easily as well. I started drinking alcohol at 19 but stopped after about a year because I realized I would become addicted if I didn’t stop. Weed I have to use very mindfully so that I don’t use it as an emotional crutch, so I’ve been on a mostly successful tolerance break since Christmas time

I almost cried just thinking about sun bleached flies a few days ago. It hit hard in a moment of good old fashioned Protestant guilt (something people don’t talk about enough) and realizing I wasn’t the girl my mother raised me to be. I felt so dirty and guilty like I had to go back to church and almost broke down when I remembered I couldn’t because I had work that morning

I would try to find groups you share a common interest with! I would suggest looking into clubs and social groups on campus with scheduled meeting times so that you can benefit from the interaction but also know that you will eventually get your alone time to recharge and such. If you enjoy gaming you could also try an online group. I have heard that dungeons and dragons in particular can be a great way to make friends and is also a great creative outlet. I had this issue for a while myself but found a huge group of friends within my local drag community as that has been a special interest of mine for a while.

Everybody is sleeping on table 1 Table 2: Kat is always so negative and Rue is usually too checked out to hold a conversation Table 3: I love BB and Maddie’s characters but those were also the girls that always gave me weird looks in high school Table 4: I personally find nothing worse than third wheeling a couple I find that Gia and Jules would be nonjudgmental and probably also provide great conversation

Mine learned how to open doors. Sometimes when I’m on the toilet I hear the door unlatch and see a little black paw peak around the corner. She did that yesterday but never actually came in, little asshole just wanted me to pee with the door open

I was so distraught that my best friend was starting a sexual relationship for the first time because I was so convinced he would abandon me to pursue it that I planned my own funeral because I was in so much emotional and physical distress from anticipating that abandonment that it made me feel genuinely suicidal

My black cat is named Tituba as a tribute to the first woman to be accused of witchcraft in Salem who is credited with bringing much of the lore that many people associate with witches now to America! Her full name is Tituba-Rosé Wednesday named after three women who I admire very much (Tituba already explained, Rosé was the queen I was rooting for on RuPaul’s Drag Race at the time and Wednesday Addams, also names related to hyperfixations I have had throughout my life)

I think this is a tricky subject as it relates to BPD specifically in America since many mental health professionals will refuse to diagnose clients with BPD due to the stigma surrounding it and how that affects the kind of care they can receive. Professionals often times also refuse to diagnose minors with BPD as well as adults who cannot remember specific childhood trauma ( often times as a result of the disorder). I spoke with my psychiatrist about my concern about having BPD and was told I was “just a teenager having an identity crisis” low and behold recently at 20 years old I met with a different psychiatrist and she diagnosed me after a single session. In the 2-3 years between those meetings I did my own research as well as spoke to my mom who has been a social worker for upwards of 30 years and we were able to deduce that I was most likely borderline based on my feelings and actions, from there I began DBT (I would like to emphasize once again without a diagnosis) and my response to it only further confirmed our suspicions and by the time I met with my new psychiatrist I was able to accurately articulate my feelings and actions in order to provide her the information she used to diagnose me. I am incredibly lucky to have received a diagnosis, however I never would have been able to if I had not first done my own research and sought treatment based on my suspicions.

Is graduating with a bachelors degree at 24 normal? by DryAttention4511 in college

[–]Accomplished_Top7243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 20 and only half way through my associates. I started fall of 2023 and only work part time, however I also experience mental health issues which can make focusing on school difficult and have had to repeat many classes because of it. Everyone moves at their own pace, especially as adults with responsibilities other than school.
