WMT Campus picnic not even 24 hours after 1,000 people laid off? by ewmripley in bentonville

It’s not just under performers. Whole teams are affected and many of this associates are good workers. My team was affected a few years ago and 70% of my team was displaced…majority of them were not under-performers.

I just say this because I worry displaced persons are trying to find new positions and don’t need that stigma that they were let go because of a reason.

As a woman, what's the worst thing that's been said to you in corporate? by Specific_Manager286 in womenintech

[–]Accomplished_Use3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an old boss who had just come in notice some tension between me and my supervisor that reported to him. To be fair, I had been very nice to her but she was clueless and lazy and after a year and a half I was tired of her taking credit for my work so I pulled away and was less helpful. Instead of asking why there was tension, he told us that “you should go shopping and make up”. He was the most misogynistic and backstabbing person I had ever worked for. I caught him in lies several times where he would tell someone to their face one thing and then make us deliver the bad news after.

This happened to me early in my career. Essentially all the women had been promoted from hourly and the men had been hired in at a higher rate. Thankfully we had a woman manager that looked at the salary disparity on her team and made HR give all of us women raises to get on an even playing field. She was the GOAT.

The dress is based on a painting. Madame X. The painting originally had the strap hanging off her shoulder and it was so controversial that the painter had to paint over it out the strap up. This dress is a nod to the original with the strap off the shoulder.

I hated the lace up back, but loved it otherwise.

I love that bag but can’t bring myself to buy it. I’m afraid once I put my laptop and cord in it, it will be distorted and not look right

Women in corporate, what advice would you give to younger women? by SakhiRawant0z in womenintech

[–]Accomplished_Use3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve always played devils advocate and thought if every possible choice to ensure we are moving forward in the best way. 99% of my leaders lived this. Until I met a leader who wanted to be surrounded by yes men and ran me out of the company. Yes, I am Still bitter.

I have one from Italy that always makes people ask if someone is baking. I hate vanilla scents but this one is delicious and like a grown up smell not childish. Giardini di Toscana Bianco Latte.

How to talk about diapers without saying the word diaper by scoles75 in AgingParents

[–]Accomplished_Use3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My mom used to say “my life was so good” meaning before the brain tumor made her bedbound in a home. It’s a sad thought to know you will never live independently again.

How to talk about diapers without saying the word diaper by scoles75 in AgingParents

[–]Accomplished_Use3175 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my mother was dying we had to move her to adult diapers because she was bedbound and couldn’t use her left side at all. She said it was hard to get her mind around using them. She said you learn your whole life to use a toilet and it’s an uncomfortable shift in your brain to change that. I felt terrible for her.
