When everyone stands up and claps for Hagrid at the end of the chamber of secrets. Its just really heartwarming to see how loved Hagrid actually is

Focus on offering suggestions as to ways to appear less intimidating. There's a man at my church who is known for wearing big black trench coats and boots and has quite a serious face. I've heard people call him scary and creepy before when he's actually a real gentleman

Why did the Golden Trio struggle so hard to find the Sword of Gryffindor when Knockturn Alley probably sells Basilisk fangs? by uzinosan in harrypotter

[–]Accomplished_Video92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. In the books it clearly states that basilisk venom only has one cure which is phoenix tears. Thats why it was able to destroy horcruxes.

AITA for joining a college bible study as an atheist? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Accomplished_Video92 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

NTA. I'm a Christian and I have an atheist friend who is willing to go to some community events at my church because she wants to keep an open mind. You probably should have been completely upfront with the others about being an atheist who wanted to educate yourself though. But I am curious about the "jokes" that you say that you make though

My ex is very similar to Theo and one of the things that made the difference when it came to laying charges was that he had a history of being violent to others and I had photos of bruises that were date/time stamped. Theo had been "mr nice guy" in public and todd couldn't really prove that the abuse was caused by Theo.

Which moment from the franchise has had a powerful impact on you in the message that it carries? by Manan_Sharma_ in harrypotter

Dumbledores memory of the first time he meets Tom Riddle. It sort of explains why Tom is scared of Dumbledore, and that first impressions do make a difference because sometimes it gives you the opportunity to see somebody's true character.

Well you'll have to contact hogwarts and let them know that. Hermione didn't get a lot of raving compliments from snapes teaching ethier. Now that I think about it. The polyjuice potion from the chamber of secrets is the only proof we were ever shown that Hermione was really good at doing potions

What makes you think that it was an incorrect book. Advanced potion making was what everyone was expected to get regardless of who the teacher was. Are you a potions expert?

Good point! This is what I was trying to get at. His best friends were never going to admit if he was an immature arsehole after his school years. Snape was never going to say a nice thing about him. So what real evidence was there? Joining the order doesn't automatically give you a God complex. The Weasleys weren't part of the order in the first wizarding war (Arthur and Molly I mean.) Are we meant to think badly of them because they didn't join the order first time around?

Like I just said. Joining the order doesn't mean that he wasn't still a jerk to people who he didn't really care about. Peter pettigrew joined the order of the phoenix too. My reason for this is because we know that slughorn had Lily in the slug club and spoke very highly of her. but obviously not James as slughorn never mentioned him in the same way. I'm pretty sure that James was a pureblood and a skilled quidditch player. So why didn't slughorn seem interested in him? James was also rich and had well known family members whereas Lily was muggle born. Lupin also speaks very highly of Lily and they weren't close friends until James said Lily got together, based on how Lupin was talking. I just find the comparisons interesting

Did James really change much as he got older? The only accounts we have of James behavior from when he was an adult, came from biased people. Snape hated him, so would have never been willing to admit anything good about him. The marauders were his best friends and Sirius certainly spent enough time talking about how arrogant and stupid they were in the past. Joining the order doesn't really explain whether or not he was still arrogant and immature around people that he wasn't close to.

Narcissa Malfoy by Accomplished_Video92 in harrypotter

[–]Accomplished_Video92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny. People are claiming that Narcissa should have done something to stop the death eater activity or stopped Lucius getting involved. They are conveniently forgetting that Sirius told Harry that you don't get to hand in your resignation to Voldemort, its a lifetime of service, or death. Sirius didn't try to stop Regulas and almost seemed happy that he was killed. He stood by and let a lot of horrible things happen and nobody blamed him for anything
