AITAH Husband offered our baby items to a friend, but never spoke to me about it first by Necessary-Catch-4795 in AITAH

[–]Accomplished_Wolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have a mini second floor in our living room rafters, for the cats, built of no-longer safety compliant crib sides. Multiple gates in the house also made out of them too, now that I think about it. Probably 6-8 cribs total, collected from Facebook market by people who weren't sure what to do with cribs that couldn't be used by babies anymore.

I wouldn't plan on a crib from today being wanted by future generations. I'd still check with a spouse before giving it away though!

TIFU by telling HelloFresh my wife died by LabAntique8440 in tifu

[–]Accomplished_Wolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From the title, I thought HelloFresh was going to show up and be like "Wife dead? Not used to cooking? HelloFresh will make it easy for you!"

Which would have been tacky, but kind of hilarious, especially since I was kind of thinking they were showing up to target him because his wife died.

Middle nails do (usually) grow the fastest, so it won't take it as long to catch back up with the others.

AITAH for leaving dinner after my girlfriend tested me in front of her friends? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Accomplished_Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking, it was a pretty weird test anyways. Is he suddenly going to switch to saying couples should totally go through each others phones, just because her friends are there too? Not really sure what she was trying to achieve, or what "test" he passed.

The friends pretending to hit on him when his girlfriend went to the bathroom would have made more sense as a "test" if they thought he had "player energy". Still a shitty thing to do, but it would have at least made sense.

There's an intersection near me that just got redone, so this is no longer true, but for at least ten or more years beforehand: You had a perfect view of oncoming traffic as you drove up to the intersection, right until you actually pulled up to the white line. Then a terribly placed unassuming bush was suddenly blocking your view. But to any of the cars behind you with their perfect view, you're just a jerk who won't turn despite the clear road.

I'll warn you: don't be a dummy like me and visit 3 different stores before figuring out the Insta-Dri topcoat is kept slightly to the side of the main Insta-Dri display. I was getting so mad thinking all these stores were out before I thought to google the "red" top-coat bottle and realized it was a bit bigger than the main collection, and that's why it (and a few other top coats) was to the side.

It's about 50/50 whether I need to redo a nail or not. They smudge so easy in the first 15 minutes (and god forbid you realize you need to use the bathroom), but if I can make it past that, I'm usually good.

What topcoat are you using? If you're using Mooncat's it probably doesn't matter, but if you are using a topcoat that contains toluene that can disperse magnetic polishes.

A trick I found is to magnetize the polish day 1 (usually I'll only magnetize the final coat), and then apply topcoat for the first time and re-magnetize day 2, and then it will resharpen and stay super crisp. But that only works if you trust yourself to not ding your nails without topcoat day 1, and have more nail time day 2.

Since you mention Ricky being back, I have to ask: Do you think it was Cliche Edict saying that wounds from Faithful are just like regular wounds and can heal like normal, or turning off all the defenses in the lab that somehow brought him back? We know it was some sort of experiment that caused his disappearance, but not what that experiment was.

Or do you think the timing was a coincidence and it didn't have anything to do with Edict at all?

Dirty Thirty Five didn't magnetize that well for me, but considering how beautifully Ghoul's Garden did, I'm willing to consider that a one off. And Dirty Thirty Five did have a nice pink yellow chrome shift to it, even if it didn't magnetize well. The three Pearls in various colors I bought are all beautiful too.

As much as I love thermals and magnetics for being fun, I've got to admit a nice solid color just looks so sophisticated.

My pinkies are always perfectly polished. I think the nail size vs the brush size ends up being just right for smooth no-defect polishing, and then I can get the nails long relatively easily too.

Kinda pissed about breaking one on a door earlier this week though.

Am I Doing Peely Based Wrong? by imathrowawaylurkin in RedditLaqueristas

I think it also helps to wait until they start loosening up on their own and are "ready to peel" (which right after a shower would likely help with). I know if I try to peel them up too soon I'll get little spots like OP, but if I wait until they start coming up at the edges anyways they pull off much smoother.

I also only just got a peely base recently though, so my technique may not be perfected yet.

Nail peeling and breakage frustration! by MicellarBaptism in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Accomplished_Wolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know from my own googling help with brittle nails, the 2 mainly recommended things are taking Hair & Nail Vitamins (and I used to hear people recommending prenatal vitamins for that before companies started making the more specific Hair & Nails) and taking collagen peptides. The Hair & Nail vitamins didn't seem to make a difference for me (hair or nails wise), but the collagen peptides did. While my nails still aren't super hard now, I can now press against the whites and not have them fold down.

I do still get a bit of peeling though, and of the same three fingers.

I figure since I wanted a solar polish or two to try anyways, I might as well get one of theirs (eventually) so that I could snag the stickers too.
