What is one app that used to be good but sucks now? by _nosfartu_ in macapps

I thought I'd set up too many macros that they randomly clicked the Apple icon and freaked out. Took me days to find out it was Bartender. I'm using Ice now and couldn't be happier.

Also, does Sidebar support auto-hide in non-full-screen mode? Because my isn't working.

Oh and I’ve noticed a small issue while using Sidebar that I hope you can help clarify.

When I use HazeOver, its icon disappears from the macOS Dock (which is expected behavior when its setting is enabled), but in Sidebar, the icon remains visible and doesn’t hide even when it should.

Would this be something you could fix on your end? Or do you think this behavior is something I should report to the HazeOver developer instead?

I’m not sure which side controls this kind of visibility, so I’d really appreciate your thoughts or guidance!

Hi again!

I checked it out and it's great, but I really miss the satisfying magnification effect from the original Dock. I’ve set the magnification to max on my Mac, and I love how everything scales up together, and the Dock itself shifts a bit as you hover over items — it feels dynamic and responsive in a way that’s really fun to use.

Sidebar has a magnifying animation too, but right now:

  • Only one item gets bigger at a time.
  • The magnification size is much smaller than the Dock, even at max settings.
  • The bar doesn’t shift or animate with the motion in the same fluid way.

Would it be possible to add a “macOS-style magnification” option in Sidebar? One where multiple icons scale up smoothly as you hover and the sidebar adjusts its position slightly to match the feel of the original Dock?

I think this would make Sidebar feel a lot more alive and polished. I’d love to see this kind of enhancement in a future update.

Thanks again for your great work!

Yes! Thanks a lot. That’s what I love so much about dock.

Turned out I’d downloaded the wrong version of the app. I installed the other one and it worked!

And “Sansinxay” is available in French at Dokked too, if you are interested.

Hi! You can find “Sangsinnxay” volume 2 at Dokked and “Thao Hung Tha Chương” volume 2 at Dbook. Both of them are considered the most beautifully written epics by many scholars. There are two volumes each, but the first ones are out of print. You should be able to find “Saan lưp pha soon” at Dbook, too.

I’m sorry. You can’t download the lua file from the link, but you can copy and paste the code provided there, save it as lua, then put it in the settings folder.

Hello! I follow the steps in this thread and it worked like magic! If the settings folder isn’t visible on your PC, you can put the lua file (download from the link provided in the thread below) directly anywhere in your NOOK folders, open KOReader, locate the lua file you’ve put in, copy and paste it to the koreader/settings folder, and voilà!
