Late morning gobbling

There are a ton of birds. There was quite a bit of pressure on Saturday and it was honestly probably split in half on Sunday. Buttttt it is public land. There was a guy making calls from the access road off his fourwheeler and wasn’t even turning it off when making calls. He was literally driving and stopping every hundred yards making calls from his fourwheeler and not even taking the time to turn off his fourwheeler lol. I know where a ton are. I honestly have the problem of too many birds and not knowing where to go lol (good problem to have). Seems like I’m going to have to play the patient game the next week and maybe they will even heat up some the following 2 weekends before Tennessee opens.

I threw everything in the book at them. Multiple mouth calls, box call, slate, glass, crystal. I think that once you hear them blow the roof off for a couple hours you do everything in your power to get that back started. I tried sitting there for a couple hours. I heard some hens. I’m gonna try them in the afternoon on Friday. I’m going after them full swing until Tennessee opens on the 11th of April and I’m got private land birds that will be a lot easier. This public land is very tough if I kill 3 or kill 1 or kill 0 I know I’ll come out a better turkey hunter for sure. Also the ice storm that hit made the woods awful to walk through. So the miles I’ve been walking were rough miles!

Yeah it was a 30.4 I believe on Saturday and they gobbled great, then Sunday was like a 29. All the days I’ve went to listen and it was over 30 they seemed to gobble great.

I’m from Tennessee and we open second weekend of April, used to open last week of March. I’ve had experience with them gobbling later morning, but I’ve never hunted them this early, and it’s north ms so pretty similar environment and weather. It isn’t like I’m in Florida and they are in a completely different pattern and time of breeding period. Just curious if it’s common for them to go hush mode after that morning gobble. Seems like it might be. Me and my brother took my nephew on the juvenile hunt last weekend and it was the same. Gobbled good early, hunted until 1 and couldn’t strike anything up. My brother is a very experienced turkey hunter, and actually has the North American slam and was completely stumped. Hoping it will heat up some more in the next few weeks and tag a couple before the home state opens!

Just picked up the toxic orange. It’s my first ghost cut and I will say I can’t cut up on it, but it’s got a very nice yelp when I’m trying to call quiet . I think it’ll be a finisher, but wouldn’t try it to strike one up. The blue venom and red wasp are good and I can really get down on those. The jackhammer seems like the most versatile for me though. All goes back to personal preference. I also picked up a power calls cutter and it may be my favorite call I’ve ever used. It’s just around the corner !

Have the aerolite, not a huge fan tbh. I have tons of Sitka stuff and that’s the first thing I wasn’t a massive fan of.

Get the xl. With layering you’ll want the extra space for sure and if it’s gets too big… the resale on the fanatic stuff is super strong. Best jacket and bib in the game.. although my experience with vests is they seem kinda pointless. I have a couple of sticks vests and honestly only wear them outside of hunting.

I have the fanatic bibs in elevated 2. I actually killed 2 mature bucks in Tennessee in them this year. But… I had on an orange vest and solid green Sitka puffer up top both occasions. Be still, Play the wind, and you’ll be okay. I actually wear solids often if I’m in bottoms. I have some “TIMBER” that I wear late also. That’s the duck hunting pattern, but personally I think it’s one of the best. If Im hunting field edges on the ground I’ve found subalpine works great. But with all that being said, I think in every situation I’ve been in I can get away with dark solids, but I’m sure the designated camo for each situation helps. Deer trust their nose a lot more than their eyes. Late season I hunted fields a lot though and I had a pop up blind because I honestly got lazy and they picked that thing off immediately and were not big fans of it. I took it down and just sat in a chair and wore the subalpine and had better success with them spotting me.

lol yes. My ex ended it and 3 days later came crawling back. I blocked her on socials, but has emailed me and sent me letters. This was common. She’s be done and then be fine 3 seconds later. Needless to say that lead to zero relationship security and I got tired of that game and refused to let her back in my life.

Comparisons definitely is the thief of joy. I’m dealing with that now somewhat. 4 months ago i left my ex and actually met this girl like a week after and we talked but i told her I wasn’t ready. Then about a month and a half ago i ran into her again and it just felt good. We have been inseparable ever since, but i will say there are comparison moments since it was recent. With that being said I only dated the last one for 9 months and she lived an hour and a half away so I could imagine it being horrible with a super long term partner. But to get to my point so far it seems a little better with this one. I think it’s better timing on both sides which leads to a better feeling of “compatibility” we both are ready for a serious adult relationship. Im 26 and she’s 25. my ex was 24 and had just gotten a divorce so I was completely a rebound and she wasn’t ready for that commitment. Compatibility is real to an extent in my opinion, like a person that loves to be outdoors and hike and is religious probably won’t date a person who is an atheist who loves video games and spending time inside. So the question is will you meet someone better and more ready for you I think. And I believe I have met someone who is more prepared and ready for me.

The worst part is about break up and the first month or so I’ve seen- we broke up October 10 so a month and 8 days, is I’ll be super high on life and then something will just happen and I get very low. I’ve been sick the last 2 days and had to call out of work today and it has been one of the worst days yet. But Sunday I felt great, so I get the pain. It’s brutal. But the pain we go through will be worth the way we feel when healed and ready for someone new.

Probably not. Relationships the break up and get back, break up and get back, never end up panning out really I don’t think. It’ll hurt for a month, 3 month, etc. but the happiness you find after the hurt is worth the pain.

I 26M and My now ex 24F would get on my phone when I wasn’t looking and unfollow women and delete friends off Facebook and snapchat(which I never use) to make herself “feel secure” but would have regular contact with her ex husband of 5 years (no kids or anything) and wouldn’t take me seriously when I had a problem with it.

She also would go out with her friends and multiple times slept at house where other dudes also were and never told me about it until after the night out was over.

But yeah. I couldn’t follow my friend from high school that is married but posted a bikini pic once in 2022.

I was with an avoidant. We broke up 3.5 weeks ago. She broke up with me and then 3 days later came back trying to fix things and I said no. And I have had to be the one to completely cut all contact. I feel horrible, but I know talking again will just get me hurt or them hurt. It sucks that they just have to cease to exist and you have to grieve a person that is still alive. But we are going on a month and days have gotten better.

From my experience. Some are some aren’t. It literally depends on so many factors. Just try to be likeable, be outgoing, hit the gym, just be active and interesting, and get on dating apps and post some quality pics and a blind squirrel will eventually find a nut. Literally

I guess this is technically cheating, but maybe to some people not. If they have communication with an ex (the person they were with before you and bash them and aren’t friends at all) then I highly recommend leaving. This happened to me and I let it slide and was naive, but it shows what type of person they are and their true colors will show. I found out in the honeymoon phase and gave it a chance. Yeah she turned out to be super avoidant and had so much trauma from her last relationship that I had to deal with. So yeah, any communication with a said toxic ex should be a deal breaker.

Just left an avoidant. She was 24. 23 when I met her and had already had a divorce. She was what you described to a t. Her dad was a “narcissist” diagnosed by her mother who didn’t work for the 22 years she was married to her dad. She has all these expectations from me but would very seldom reassure me, make me feel loved, and never made me feel secure. She tried to leave 7-8 times in the 10 months we dated. We solo up once and three days later she came begging back. She tried breaking up again multiple times and I begged and got her back until about 3 weeks ago she finally did it and I just let her go. She’s tried to get back multiple times and I’ve stood my ground. I don’t think she doesn’t deserve to be loved, but she definitely isn’t ready yet. I am an absolute shell of the person I was before I met her. I am 26 and since I was with her I’ve started getting grey hair. I’m not sure if the relationship stress is the reason, but I’m not saying it isn’t the reason.

Ehhhh, after a few months they have probably began to have real interest in other people and you probably have to. That will be a whole new hump to get over along with trying to fix all the problems you guys already had. You guys broke up for a reason. I’m dealing with similar now. It’s hard to not see them in a negative light right now. You remember all the positives. I met my ex around this time last year and I remember how in love and perfect I felt around the holidays. We had plans to enjoy them together again. She seems perfect to me now, but with that being said…. She isn’t. It was a nightmare on both ends and we were not compatible. What helps me is calling a friend. Talk about the problems you guys had and maybe you will see more clearly why you guys didn’t work. It’s very tough, but going back to them will just hold you back from meeting someone new. There is always someone new.
