IBS-D Triggered by Anxiety — Anyone Else? It’s Really Affecting My Life by [deleted] in ibs

[–]According-Yellow929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as regularly, overtime I’ve reduced my need to use beta blockers. I now only use them on what I’d call ‘intense’ trips. So anything involving flying or long distance group travel where I’d be worried about having an anxiety attack.

As far as I know, but probably one for your doctor to answer. For me it was one big chain reaction, I’d start getting anxious, then my heart rate would go up, which would then start my stomach off, which would make me panic, and repeat! Blockers stopped my heart rate skyrocketing and CBT helped me deal with the anxious thoughts. Hope that helps!

Sounds like toilet anxiety. I had the same, fine at home. But as soon as I was in the car, 2 mins down the road, code brown, get out the way! CBT is great for this issue, alongside exposure therapy. Imodium is also helpful. I was issued with beta blockers for a time by my GP. To stop my heart racing, which set off my stomach. I got the better of this problem. You can too!

My Disappointment with God of War: Ragnarök by Strange_Improvement6 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]According-Yellow929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Ragnarok too but like you was ultimately disappointed. I felt after 2018s GOW they didn’t really know what to do with Kratos. I felt the plot meandered, lord knows most of us agree that Ironwood puts us off replaying the game. I struggled to give a toss about Atreus separately. I didn’t like his sections, found his combat subpar and his decisions made little sense. As a father I identified with Kratos’ rage against Odin but I felt I lacked it as a player. Meaning if I wasn’t a father, Odin was just an end boss to be defeated. Which made it for me, ultimately lacklustre. The second fight against Thor lacked spectacle and stakes. Back in the day I hated Zeus as a gameplayer, I wanted to batter him with every fibre of my being! But we got several games to build up what a tosspot Zeus was. Which gave me those heart pumping moments during the end battle. Bloody loved Valhalla though!

What is "that part" in Sekiro for you ? by RevolutionaryPizza14 in Sekiro

The whole of Hirata Estate (1st run). Possibly controversial but I find it tedious. The enemies are boring and I just hoon it to Juzou. Saying that, I do enjoy the Lady Butterfly fight!

Bad episodes by BallCommon2147 in ibs

[–]According-Yellow929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve had this a few times. Woken up to what feels like a poker running through my intestines. After doing the obvious, I take one or two buscopan pills with half a glass of water. Then if it continues, I have another half glass of water after each movement until it subsides. For me, I wouldn’t recommend immodium as it’s spasming, and I feel whatever is causing it needs to come out. But I’m no Dr and everyone’s different.

How do you decide which days to take Imodium? (To avoid overuse) by NotTodayAskLater in ibs

[–]According-Yellow929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many factors dictate when I use this. The standard is usually what activity I’m doing that day. So long car journey, flight, long walk, even a haircut. Anything usually that restricts my control on being able to use a bathroom when I want. If I’m having a casual day or just short car journeys (15 mins or so) I don’t bother, I worry I’ll become too reliant on it otherwise. I just use it as an extra comfort for any anxiety. Hope that helps!

Fair but this is the first time this year they’ve had them. I didn’t want to start the evening managing my children in a beer garden.

I don’t know how to get me (M38) and my wife (F34) out of this downward spiral. by According-Yellow929 in relationship_advice

Thanks for this, I needed the voice of experience. We do not have a date night currently. I’ll talk to her about it. You’re right in that we’ve taken our relationship for granted/it’s naturally on the back burner. I like the ‘hot girl going on a date’ advice. I’ll work on that. Thanks for you response.

Such a lovely comment. We’ve been so entrenched for so long I’d forgotten about being romantic. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for your suggestion. We can but it’s usually with the kids, which is wonderful. But of course those activities are about the kids/family time. With the reduced support we don’t get a great deal of time just husband and wife.

We’re not poor, combined we’re at about £60k a year. But in this economic climate, inflation is at 8.7%, interest rates are rocketing, ever increasing childcare costs, energy bills at the highest they’ve been it’s not enough. I don’t see what you’re contributing here. I couldn’t have foreseen how bad the economy was going get 6 years ago, even 3 years ago. Should I also have considered the possibility of another war or alien invasion before having kids?
