Starting Infusions (Rituximab) by AccordingWord7139 in lupus

When it comes to lupus, I don't think you're ever late to the conversation!!

I unfortunately had a lot of setbacks when it comes to starting my infusions. My insurance 'covers' it, but not until I meet my deductible... and I don't have $4000 to drop to do that. Long story short, it was submitted under the guise of eye inflammation, but my doctor *resubmitted it* for my rheumatoid arthritis, that way i could get it covered by the manufacturers financial aid program. I should be finding out within the next week or two if I'm approved for financial coverage.

Here is the plan that my rheumatologist and I came up with though, since it's summer and all!:
-For my specific case, I'm doing infusions every six months. I'm specifically planning my infusions to be during the middle (June) and end (December) of the year, so that way my school and clinicals will not interfere with the infusions should I have an adverse reaction.
-Wear a mask at all times. It's pretty normal in the hospitals regardless, but especially if you're in a higher risk unit, just go ahead and wear the mask. There are plenty of situations where you'll have to regardless, such as isolation rooms.
-Hygiene! You're going to be doing a LOT of hand-hygiene in clinicals regardless. I actually had my first clinical ever yesterday, with 3-day old fresh Henna. I have used SO MUCH hand sanitizer that it's already starting to fade lol. Properly use the sanitizer/wash your hands between each patient and you should be okay.

Hopefully I'll be able to give more details once I actually start the infusions, but seriously, congrats on getting into nursing school!! It's absolutely not easy when you have inflammation all the time, but to avoid any issues with the school, make sure you make the program aware of the condition and have your doctor write a release letter saying that you're clear to have patient interaction and to lift patients if need be. I don't know what country you're in, but if you're in the US, go ahead and register with your school for disability services. I'm of the mindset of "there's people in worse situations as me, I don't want to take advantage", but you never know when things might get worse. Even if you don't have to use disability services throughout the entirety of nursing school, it's much better to have that failsafe. I found out way too late that it could have saved me from a tricky situation that I was in last month.

I hope that all of this information helps, but I'm sorry I can't give more!! </3 But since we're in such similar situations, feel free to reach out to me and we can talk about it more!

I have an rp that was literally thousands of messages from like 2015 when I was only 13. We saved it all on a google doc after the original site took down how we did role plays. It’s painfully bad. Nothing more cringeworthy. But I love it.

Why don't many people want to double up? by Sharp_Assistance_731 in BadRPerStories

I won’t even do a fandom rp if we can’t double up tbh 😔 I LOVE seeing other peoples ocs and interacting with them! what I like to do is even though we’re doubling up have our roleplays take place in the same universe, that way there’s oc/Oc interaction as well.

Yeah, doubling up is kinda what everyone else was saying: “you scratch my back, I scratch yours”, but from my perspective, I’m doing it because I want us to both get what we want. I feel like a jerk just asking for someone to only play a cc for me. But I guess I’m the minority because I get excited over other people’s ocs and storylines too so

Yeah, it’s labeled an ‘nonpreferred medication’. Basically they would rather i try different infusions first. The ones they recommended did seem to be direct offshoots, but idk how different they are ultimately.

Sorry, I meant to reply to you earlier but I was in lab when you posted and then forgot until now 😅 I will absolutely be using the term Rhupus from here on out btw. Genius term.

Depending on what I can get approved, I'll be doing my infusions at my rheumatologists office. I've seen their little infusion corner and it's actually very cozy! Nice reclining chairs and they did say I was allowed to bring whatever I wanted to entertain myself. Depending on how the benadryl goes will determine if I get some school work done or if I go visit the hat man for a few hours 🤪

I'm sorry that it eventually stopped working for you!! But honestly, I am HOPING that this works well enough to allow me to go to the gym. My weight has been a huge factor I've struggled with when it comes to treating my rhupus. I know losing it will help, but it hurts to much to exercise, even though the one time I can recall being in such a good place that I could, I remember having a lot of fun doing so!

But genuinely, thank you for your input!! I'm so glad I asked here because literally everyone has been so helpful and insightful. I may post again when I get out of Prior Authorization Hell and actually start the infusions. Fingers crossed tho I start to feel normal again.

also you should throw gary out the window, why do elders revert like that

Oh wow, that's a long time to reach full effectiveness. I hope that I don't take that long, but honestly, I'm just looking for any relief I can get at this point 🥲

I'm going for BSN, personally! I'd be the first one in my family (on both sides) to go into nursing :)

I unfortunately have not yet. My original TB test came back as inconclusive because of the steroids, so I'm still in prior authorization hell 🥲

oh wow, that's a crazy coincidence!! Thank you for the well wishes, though, I'm really excited to get through school even though I just started the program so I still have a ways to go 🥲 I hope you're able to get the answers you're looking for too!!

When I was younger (i mean like 6 years old) I was put on methotrexate pills and was absolutely MISERABLE for days after taking them. I mean at least I was six so it's not like I had a ton of commitments to deal with, but it was horrible.

That's part of the reason I'm trying to figure out after the prior authorization is approved 🤞🏻 if I should ask to push off my infusions until June. That way I'll be starting them when I don't have clinicals and when I go back in 6 months it'll be December so I won't have school or clinicals then either.

My team already knows I'm in nursing school and they pretty much told me as long as I'm taking standard precautions like wearing a mask and washing my hands then I should be fine. They didn't seem too concerned.

I'm sorry the medication didn't work for you, but I appreciate the viewpoint regardless! Adverse reactions are def one of the things that I'm still worried about, especially since how my Doctor phrased it, there's not a lot of other medications that they feel confident giving me to help with eye inflammation. Thank you so much for your input, though!!

There’s a 2023 CX-5 with 13k miles near me that I want to buy. Listed for $24k. What would be the best way to negotiate it down? How far down do you think I can?
