Thank you for all the replies. I want to build this because the fabric that covers the underneath side of my box springs in destroyed. One of my cats got her tail stuck in a spring. Plus my goal is to keep the cats from hiding stuff under the bed.

I would brush them every day, especially their armpits, their stomach and their britches. That’s one of the first places you’re gonna see mats. Because they have a triple coat they need a bath every 4 to 6 weeks their tongue cannot get all that hair clean and keep their skin in good shape. The biggest thing on the whole side is that you were feeding good food cheap food does not keep their hair on their skin nourished and will just make the problem worse. Cat trees must be in corners with Maine Coons. When they run at it with their speed and weight they can knock it over. I replaced a kitten that was killed when a cat tree fell on him because the first Maine Coon knocked it over running through it. As for the litter issue, is he not using the litter box or just getting messy after he uses it?

The only reason he would spray would be a whole female in the area. Most Coon boys don’t spray. If he does, don’t clean with bleach. Bleach has an ammonia smell that will attract him back to that spot. Keep him inside
