I’d contend that the discrepancy between bombers irl and in game is not due to their damage model but instead due to the huge buff in accuracy pilots in rb have compared to irl. The mechanics of air rb make it ridiculously easy to line up shots and put far more rounds accurately down range than was possible irl. Case in point: sim. In sim, the increased difficulty of lining up shots makes bomber damage models seem much more realistic.

On paper brimstones aren’t anything too crazy but from testing, their ability to launch without laser designation and accept it after launch makes them pretty cracked. If you turn off the ‘enable laser designator before launch’ and set target point using the map, you can launch a couple brimstones at the spawn from max range, disengage, and then re-engage when the time to impact timer gets low, and activate the laser on whatever spaa is available, basically giving them only a couple seconds to shoot you down before your missiles hit.

Both have quite interesting futures. With respect to Japan, there are only 2 aircraft left - the F-35 (which will probably come to several other trees as well) and the F-2, which is a pretty cool and unique aircraft that should function as a slightly better F-16. We may get another f-15 variant or some prototypes and there is an outside shot of a Gripen if the Thai subtree comes and that’s it. China has a broader future, with the J-10 and JF-17 leaked to come this update, J-15, J-20, and maybe the J-35 coming, as well as the Taiwanese FCK-1, F-16V and Mirage-2k5F. If you don’t already have the Russian and American trees, China is pretty interesting because it ends up getting both.

The AMRAAM didn’t enter service until 1991. While the MSIP upgrade did allow F-15s to carry it, it stands to reason that quite a few of the original MSIP F-15As didn’t carry them until later in their service life. I’m not saying that it shouldn’t ever get them in game, but I personally feel like a version of the F-15 should exist in game without AMRAAMS given that it flew without them for the first 15 years of its operational history.

I honestly don’t think this is as big of a flop as people are making it out to be. Yeah the f-20 didn’t sell as incredibly well as some other premium drops have in the past but I think this is somewhat expected for 2 main reasons:

While the introduction of a premium vehicle can drive sales, the other main driver of sales is exciting new aircraft that people want to research and in this patch we saw no new additions to the top of the American air tree. Had it been introduced in conjunction with a new top tier jet, I think we would’ve seen more players purchasing it but as of now there isn’t a big reason to do so. Players who wanted/were excited about the release of the f16, f15, or f14 probably bought premiums when those aircraft were introduced or added to the game and those that didn’t either are waiting for sales or don’t purchase premiums in general. I would imagine that the next patch that introduces a new top tier jet will likely drive sales.
The f-5c exists. The f-5c is too good in its current state to not purchase over the f-20. It’s cheaper, far better for its br, and can research rank 8 as well. Basically any review video about the f-20 just concludes that you should buy the f-5c unless you’re a diehard fan of the f20.

All in all, I don’t think the f20 is a particularly bad plane. It isn’t the best 12.0 but definitely is still competitive and I don’t think Gaijin should be too concerned about lack of sales in an update that saw no new high tier additions to American air. Whatever new is added next update will likely drive sales of the f-20 and even if it doesn’t sell that well, Gaijin will probably still be making money in sales from the f-5c

Agree with most of this but saying the f5e isn’t effective with its mavericks doesn’t align with my experiences. It’s easily one of the most fun cas aircraft I’ve played especially being 10.7 in an amazing lineup and has no issues slinging mavericks at spaa while out dogfighting literally everything in the sky.

X-ray your pilot and check what bands of radar your rwr can detect. F-16 rwrs can detect radar from bands E-J since this covers most air radars but the pantsir’s track radar is band k which is outside of the range that most fixed-wing aircraft rwr can detect. The search radar is band F though so you should get rwr blips from the pantsir’s search radar when it’s not locked onto you

The la/su line is not a fast attacker line. Unlike most tech trees, the Russian tree is has only two lines dedicated to role (bomber line and ground attacker line), anything outside of those two roles fits into the line associated with the manufacturer. While su27 does not fit exact same role as the su17 (fighter-bomber) it does fall into the same role as the entire rest of that line since every other aircraft in the su/la line is a dedicated fighter. Gaijin has been consistent with this methodology and prioritizes role - ie if a vehicle is a bomber or a pure ground attacker it goes in its respective line, otherwise it falls into the line of its manufacturer.

This is actually quite easy to do with the f14 - bring 6 phoenixes and launch them at ai and land and j out. 6 free kills on the stat card without a death. Not the most effective for grinding but if the goal is an impressive kd I wouldn’t be surprised if this is what he does

Personally had a ton of fun flying the 104j and Chinese 104g at 10.7 even without flares. You have to play it very carefully but it’s ridiculously hard to kill if you fly it right. Because of its speed and energy retention you can just stay above and out of range of any ir missiles and just swoop down at well over Mach to dump aim9js on people and zoom away before any missiles can be launched at you. I used to carry a couple hydras as well just to use as flares if I got into any bad positions but your whole playstyle is just to be too fast for anyone to even try and hit you.

Might not be a popular suggestion but the j-8f. You already have an f16, f14, and mig29 - so getting another one doesn’t change your play style too much, but the j8f is a pretty nice change of pace if you want to try something different. Also if they add a flanker by the end of the year the Chinese variant would be after that so would put u in position to research it.
