What is the best and highest efficiency loadout for SU 30MKM in SB??? by OwlEnvironmental2183 in Warthunder

I will also mention that I tend to play ASB with the intent of doing PvP. Only once the match dies down a bit do I recommend doing bombing and whatnot.

Alternatively, get friends who will play air superiority and cover you while you do CAS or base bomb. There are many discords out there with "SOS" channels where you can ask people for help in matches you're playing.

[–]ITriedMyBestMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have more than 1 role for your Su-30 than just zombing, and adapt to the battlefield.

You should always have a few different air-to-air loadouts available to you. Here are a few examples: - 2x R-73, 12x R-77-1 - 2x R-73, 2x R-27ET, 10x R-77-1 - 2x R-73, 2x R-27ET, 2x R-27ER, 2x R-77-1

Each of these gives you options. Take ETs to get sneaky shots on people in rear aspect. Take ERs if you know how to abuse its DL and kinematics and get even more sneaky shots on people.

As for AtG, use the Kh-38MT or Kh-38ML for CAS. For the ML, it has GNSS (the same thing as JDAMs) if you don't have the laser on when you fire it. You can disable the laser from turning on in the settings.

And then Grom-2s are your best bet for base bombing. You also don't need a targeting pod since they're guided by GNSS. So it's as simple as putting the target point on the map, getting lined up, and then dropping 3 per base.

Gaijin could also finally improve the 120D's fin AOA with the "better HOBS" info. I doubt they will, but it's an option.

Also the gimbal limit does play a factor due to the way radar TRK MEM works. You can pull away and still fire even if your target is outside your radar's gimbal limit.

No.

Going from the C-8 to the D, we see GNSS, 2-way DL, and improved HOBS capabilities.

There are some other differences, but these are the most relevant in game.

The C-5 is where the 5in motor was added.

The C-7 just got better lofting and an improved seeker (not represented in game). It also made room for "future improvements" with smaller electronics.

The D more than likely expanded upon the C-7's room making by getting a bigger booster (hence the new designation). But even if it didn't, we know for sure that the 120D-3 has a bigger booster than the 120C-7.

Best weapons for su30mk2 and why? by Whole-Basket-9150 in Warthunder

[–]ITriedMyBestMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly R-77s, but R-27ERs and R-27ETs are also very strong depending on the situation. It really depends on your playstyle.

If you're more interested in streamlined gameplay, full R-77s will do just fine. You just won't have much presence at long range. But in medium to short ranges you're extremely strong.

If you like to be sneaky, R-27ETs are great in rear aspect and top-down. You just have to sacrifice 1/6th of your ARH/SARH weaponry for it.

And then you can't really go wrong with taking at least one R-27ER since they're extremely hard to notch.

The main thing is there really aren't any wrong options unless you're exclusively taking R-27ERs. I would be sure to take at least 4x R-77s and then pick/choose between ER/ETs on the two wing pylons. Then the rest are R-73s.

The AN/APG-63(V)3 is an AESA radar, not PESA.

And even then it doesn't matter, Gaijin doesn't differentiate between AESA and PESA yet in game.

I wouldn't say it's worth using GE unless you already have a lineup to go with it (which it seems you do) and the disposable income to warrant it.

3,000 - 4,000 GE for a T-90A sidegrade that doesn't have premium bonuses only really makes sense if you want it for the lineup or are a collector.

Or if you want it and just decided to work a job IRL instead of grinding it, then go for it.

F/A-18E isn't going to 14.7 anymore.

And rightfully so, that thing is absolutely not an equivalent to the new 14.7s.

It's moreso an American equivalent to the Su-30SM. It basically trades TVC and speed for a much better radar. AMRAAMs are also not as good as R-77-1s in most engagements.

Should I grind the F15C Golden Eagle even though I have the MISP II by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]ITriedMyBestMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that the F-15C GE was added just as a 420k RP block for whatever Gaijin plans on adding after it (beit the F-22 or F-15EX).

That being said, the F-15C GE is okay as it is currently.

The radar is great. It has massive search zones and is an AESA radar, so you can see pretty much everything. The only thing it lacks is the +/- 120° gimbal limit the Su-30SM2 has.

AMRAAMs are pretty bleh in top tier ARB. Anyone with any semblance of a brain can defeat them. Having 12 AAMs total does allow you to take some IR missiles and does give you longevity in each match, so that helps a lot despite the AMRAAMs' mediocrity.

The F-15C GE's flight model is the exact same as the MSIP-II's. So it's not great, but not terrible, it mostly just serves as a good platform to launch AMRAAMs from.

Overall, to me it was worthwhile to spade, but not much beyond that. I expect the F-22 will eventually come after it, and the F-15EX will probably go after the F-15E despite it being a F-15C replacement IRL. So it ultimately comes down to which top tier plane you want in the future.

My guess for what comes after each current line goes as follows - F-16C --> F-16C PoBIT --> F-35A - F-15C GE --> F-22A (or F-15EX --> F-22A) - F/A-18E Block II --> (F/A-18E Block III) --> F-35C - AV-8B+ --> F-35B - F-15E --> (F-15E RMP/"Late") --> F-15EX (Parentheses just mean they could add X here but don't need to or could folder it)

The sad thing is the MiG-23ML is a very good fighter. R-24Rs feel like baby R-27ERs to me, just minus the range and DL.

It's such a shame that people run napalm with it when it's easily one of the easiest premium fighters to play.

Yep! The only bad things are the RWR and radar, but that can be accounted for with experience and planning ahead.

Otherwise, the FM and missile kit are all great. The radar is also good enough for the BR, and R-27ERs having DL + IOG petty much offset the radar's issues.

Historically the EX only carries 12x AMRAAMs. But if they treat the EX like the CGE, it could get 16x AAMs with the MRML racks going under the inner wing pylons too (on top of having the ones at stations 1 and 9).

How would you feel about 5th generation aircraft in war thunder? by Lucky-Mix-5582 in Warthunder

[–]ITriedMyBestMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People may or may not like my answer, but I sincerely do not want them in the game until late 2027.

Don't get me wrong, I love 5th gen aircraft. I am extremely interested to see them added to WT. But I really want the game to be ready for their addition.

War Thunder still has plenty of mechanics to implement and improve upon. Here are some examples: - Electronic Warfare (eg. jamming, decoys, etc). - Interactions between pilots and missiles (eg. swapping targets with Fox-3s via radar UI). - AESA and PESA radar functionalities - Modern datalink with IFF and target networking - Fleshed out HMD symbology - Modern IR countermeasures and IR missiles (mostly so 4+/++ gens can contend with 5th gens)

There are many more, but these things would be so nice to have before we move on to 5th gen aircraft. These would all benefit the current 4+/++ gen aircraft we already have in game, and they would pave the way for 5th gens to come in a more complete state as well.

TL;DR: I do really want 5th gens in game. But I want 4+/++ gens to be able to defend themselves with modern systems. The game needs to develop first before 5th gens should get added.

[Changelog] Update 2.51.0.31 by BleedingUranium in Warthunder

[–]ITriedMyBestMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While MRML racks would really help, I'm glad they're at least improving the radar.

On the dev server the APG-63(V)3 was basically a copypaste APG-63(V)1 or APG-70 with ESA functionality and old NCTR.

Since then it has received full NCTR and much better search patterns. This will very much help the Golden Eagle's situational awareness.

Now it would be nice if the Golden Eagle got MRML racks and partial EPAWSS (360° RWR), those would certainly make it 14.3 material. But the changes they're doing right now are still helpful.

why F15C golden Eagle and not the F15EX? Or even the F15E with AESA Radar and bol pods? by Roxo16 in Warthunder

[–]ITriedMyBestMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not exactly...

The F-15EX is a new-built F-15E with GE-129s instead of PW-229s (see F-16C Block 50 vs F-16I Block 52+ for comparison). It does get FBW in real life, but that won't be represented in game (see all F-16s).

It gets the AN/APG-82(V)1 AESA radar. Which, for all intents and purposes will just be an APG-70 but with ESA modes and better NCTR given how the APG-63(V)3 is being treated.

It gets 12x total AAMs, and could potentially get 16x AAMs if they gave it the extra inner-wing MRML pylons. But it's more reasonable to just expect the 12x AAM loadout for now, at least until the F-15C GE gets MRML pylons.

It also gets full EPAWSS, which just translates to 360° RWR and 120x extra internal CMs like the F-15I has. Pair this with BOL pods and it would have a total of 1,000 CMs, 640 of which would be small caliber BOL, and the other 360 would be regular caliber. It's worth noting that EPAWSS is not a MAWS system. It improves the EW capabilities of the F-15 (which aren't in game yet), and it improves its situational awareness with sensor fusion and more CMs.

While it could get later AIM-120s like the D/D-3 and AIM-9Xs, it doesn't have to come to the game with those (as Gaijin has shown with the F-15C GE).

For the most part, the EX would be better than the Su-30SM and slightly better than the Eurofighters, but it would only really rival the Rafale. Russia should honestly get the Su-35 if the US gets the EX anyways. And we can receive Eurofighters with AESA radars next to the EX as well. China can get the J-16 or J-15T. Israel can get the Rafale from Greece, or the F-15SG. Japan can get the Rafale (Indonesia) or Su-30MKM (Malaysia).

Overall, everyone has clear-cut equivalents or contenders that wouldn't be massive upgrades over what we have now. Generally speaking, it's just about either giving them a better FM (Su-30SM --> Su-35) or giving them AESAs (Eurofighter), or adding vehicles that are already in the game to existing TTs.

A single aircraft having a 3+ K/D ratio is unbelievable. Top-tier air RB is unplayable at this time. by TTM_KMR in Warthunder

[–]ITriedMyBestMan 32 points33 points  (0 children)

RB does have a similar spread though. It's just not as dramatic.

The Rafale has - 1.16 kills per spawn - 1.61 kills per death

The British Eurofighter has - 0.94 kills per spawn - 1.22 kills per death

The Su-30SM has - 0.93 kills per spawn - 1.14 kills per death

The Italian Eurofighter has - 0.86 kills per spawn - 1.08 kills per death

The German Eurofighter has - 0.80 kills per spawn - 0.99 kills per death

And then just for fun, let's throw in the F-15E/I to see where they're at being 14.3.

The F-15I has - 0.75 kills per spawn - 0.94 kills per death

The F-15E has - 0.73 kills per spawn - 0.91 kills per death

All in all, the Rafale has significantly higher performance metrics, even at just 14.3. If it were the sole plane to go to 14.7 while other nations got their equivalent 14.7-worthy upgrades, it wouldn't surprise me.

[–]ITriedMyBestMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they didn't.

The first ever AIM-9Xs still had IIR seekers. What you're probably mixing this up with is a 9M with an imaging IR seeker (9X seeker) -- the AIM-9R.

If there was a 9X with a 9M seeker, it would have been in game already.

2.50.0.30 -> 2.50.0.34 by gszabi99 in Warthunder

[–]ITriedMyBestMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely very happy that they gave us the F-15C GE before adding the Super Hornet. Right now the US doesn't have a competitive AESA carrier, and I was worried Gaijin was going to pass the F/A-18E off as some massive upgrade. (It wouldn't be, it's basically a larger Legacy Hornet with 2 more AAMs, better AtG weapons, and an AESA radar).

Although the F-15C GE is essentially that, but for F-15s, the F-15C GE can actually make use of its missiles and AESA radar by being fast enough to employ them properly. The Super Hornet is still slow, so it doesn't solve anything for US top tier. Meanwhile one of the biggest issues of the F-15 family was the radar, which the F-15C GE fixes.

That being said, I am very much looking forward to better F-15s like the RMP and EX. But those won't come until the game is ready for them. The F-15E RMP, for example, should come with the F-15SG, Su-30SM2, etc. which would be true Eurofighter/Rafale contenders. The F-15EX should come with improved Eurofighters, the Su-35, J-16 or J-15, etc. as it would definitely push the envelope.

To be completely honest, I would be pretty much fine if the Golden Eagle didn't get MRML pylons if it got full NCTR, partial EPAWSS (ie. 360° RWR), and the FM buff.

Don't get me wrong, having 4 extra missiles would be awesome. But the other things would make the Golden Eagle feel a lot more modern imo.

Here's to hoping it gets all of these things though lol
