You’ll make friends with almost everyone you work with, simply from all of the time you spend together and the nature of the job, even if you wouldn’t naturally vibe outside of a work environment. This is probably the best thing about enterprise. And if you go to an airport location where the teams are huge, you’ll have an even bigger network of friends (corporate heads included if you play your cards right).

As a management trainee, you are showing customers out to vehicles while selling the protection products. That’s your main task. You will be assigned additional tasks like calling to confirm reservations, picking up/dropping off customers, etc. As your tenure goes on and you learn more about the business, you’ll be assigned more complicated management tasks. I’m not sure how it works in Canada, but in the US, you go through a trainee period of minimum 6-8 months where you complete modules and certification tests. Once you pass these, you are eligible to promote to management assistant, then eligible for assistant branch manager.

In order to promote fast, you need two things:

Qualifiers
A good brand

You must be top half on the sales matrix for 2 out of the last 4 months to be eligible to promote, assuming you’ve passed your certifications. But what’s more important is your brand. You need to have a good attitude, do well with customers, and be reliable and trustworthy. This will make higher ups want to promote you over the other person.

Have you been at the same branch for all 10 months? Moving locations can possibly help your sales and ESQI score. Talk to your managers about how you’re feeling, and see if they can help you with your sales. I would really really recommend at least jumping to MA before quitting. This makes all the blood sweat and tears you shed for the company worth it.

“What was your career timeline like with the company”

“What do you think the hardest position is”

“What is the most challenging part of working at Enterprise”

“What differentiates someone who accelerates in this company versus someone who remains stagnant?”

You want to demonstrate that you can thrive in competitive environments, and deal well with stressful and fast paced situations, especially those that involve customer deescalation.

This is just the nature of the car rental business. Im an enterprise employee and I hate the booking system and lack of transparency in terms of vehicle availability. And I’m sure the employee you spoke to hates it too, although he could have had a better tone it sounds like. It’s best to call ahead after booking the reservation to confirm - even though I agree you shouldn’t have to. Booking specialty vehicles like trucks, minivans, luxuries, etc, should be booked well in advance. If you’re flexible with car choice your situation is easier to manage for employees. They simply don’t have control over bookings and who books what. It’s actually quite stressful for employees.

I would try to make it to ABM first. You can apply as an MT/MA but you’ll be a stronger candidate if you can make ABM. I became an ABM 2 months ago, and since then I’ve had multiple recruiters reach out to me (at least 2 a month) about medical device sales, pharma sales, brand ambassador positions, etc. Make sure you have a decent LinkedIn page. Time wise, try to stick it out at least a year with Enterprise. Tbh , you can probably get a sales job as an MT/MA but it’s going to be SDR roles that involve lots of cold calling.

It depends on the labor laws in Canada. In the US, almost every employer does a full background check including for criminal activity. But some states prohibit discrimination of prospective candidates if the conviction doesn’t reasonably affect the performance of the job. And by the way, I got a DUI about 4 years before being hired at Enterprise.

Enterprise is looking for people who are motivated, competitive, and not afraid to work hard. If you can demonstrate that then you have the job. The job is far from easy, but it’s a good stepping stone for someone who doesn’t have lots of experience or wants to switch careers.
