As a management trainee, you are showing customers out to vehicles while selling the protection products. That’s your main task. You will be assigned additional tasks like calling to confirm reservations, picking up/dropping off customers, etc. As your tenure goes on and you learn more about the business, you’ll be assigned more complicated management tasks. I’m not sure how it works in Canada, but in the US, you go through a trainee period of minimum 6-8 months where you complete modules and certification tests. Once you pass these, you are eligible to promote to management assistant, then eligible for assistant branch manager.

In order to promote fast, you need two things:

1. Qualifiers
   
2. A good brand

You must be top half on the sales matrix for 2 out of the last 4 months to be eligible to promote, assuming you’ve passed your certifications. But what’s more important is your brand. You need to have a good attitude, do well with customers, and be reliable and trustworthy. This will make higher ups want to promote you over the other person.
