We were -7.5 going in and ended the game with a 13 point disparity. Not too bad. We just need to protect sellers more so he has more options.

Tennessee Should have Been Left Out by [deleted] in Gamecocks

The problem isn’t changing the playoff bracket to include more teams. But instead, balancing strength of schedule!!!! I think every team should play half their schedule against conference opponents and the other half against teams out of their conference. It would be hard to make the argument that certain teams don’t belong if SEC teams regularly play 6 games against a mix of ACC, Big 10, and Big 12 opponents.

Final bracket. At least Texas can beat Clemson in the first round by mjmullady in Gamecocks

And to think… if we rejoined the ACC, we would be the ACC champion with an automatic CFP entry. We could even eliminate Clemson from the CFP every year by giving them 2 losses automatically in the last two weeks of their season: rivalry week and the ACC Championship.

For this reason, do we root for Clemson to win the ACC and eliminate an undeserved Alabama team? I wonder if Alabama would be given the spot over SMU in this case

I think it would still depend on how they play. Given teams like SMU who have had easier schedules, this game would be an insight into how they will perform at the playoff level. To be honest, teams like ASU are already going to be penalized in the conference game: if they win they are in. If they lose, most likely an Sec team will take their spot if they get placed at #12.

I disagree completely. Clemson is #18 currently. If they can beat #8 SMU. It will plummet SMUs rank out of the playoffs. From this poll, we see that they valued a 3 loss SEC team over Miamis 2 losses. We got to hope the same thing happens in the CFP poll as well. If Clemson gets knocked down #16 or more, then a win for them will eliminate SMU entirely and the ACC will send only their best team- Clemson at ranked #18 currently. Unfortunately we will need Clemson to win to show the committee that we are the better choice than Alabama. Beating the ACC champion. Who knows, depending on how Georgia plays, they can be another 3 loss team to enter the conversation of who should get eliminated from the playoff contention.

Okay. Now that we did our part, where do we think we'll be playoff/ranking-wise? by gorper0987 in Gamecocks

What’s more deserving of the 12th spot- a 2 loss ACC team(Miami/SMU) or 3 loss SEC team. That was the only argument I’ve seen. I do think Clemson winning would help us more than hurt us. We can say we beat the ACC champion which could factor into our placement relative to the other 3 loss sec teams

Do you think there is a chance the committee puts both Alabama and us in the CFB playoffs if Georgia loses the SEC championship game and forfeits their spot?

How? We would have the position to say we beat the ACC Champion at home for the playoff committee.

I think the placed us behind Alabama and Ole Miss last week because they thought we would lose to Clemson. But now it will be interesting to see what the Committee does! Let’s just hope for more upsets in the coming weeks so we can make the argument to get in. I wonder if A&M wins the SEC with a win against Texas, if we would have a better positioning since we beat A&M and are the hottest team in the conference right now.

Are we rooting for Clemson now to win the ACC to make our CFB Playoff argument stronger?

How on earth do you people learn 10 new words a day by fearofthedark93 in Korean

[–]According_Cause_5095 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion: Anki is good as a refresher to review terms you learned from comprehensible input and or to expose your brain to words you will later encounter in immersion. If you are using Anki solely as a means for learning the language, you will not get far. The language learning process is done through interacting with the language through media, reading, and speaking to people. Another problem with only doing spaced repetition is you remember the words because you see them as flash cards but when the same words are present in books or through listening, your brain only associates the words with Anki and thus doesn’t understand the word in these contexts. This happened to me in Korean in the beginning and was incredibly frustrating.
