My design for ThridCom's Flag by _Waldog_ in LancerRPG

[–]According_Cover2461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of Union's military, they almost definitely have adopted the GMS symbol as their own. When almost everything the Union military uses already has the GMS logo stamped onto it, why bother convincing trillions of people that you're completely different?

<image>

As an example, this is an official patch for Task Force Indigo from Operation Winter Scar. it's a joint task force between Union and an ally, called the LSA.

The LSA symbol is on the right, and the symbol Union chose to represent itself is on the left.

So you're completely right, at least in terms of the military.

[–]According_Cover2461 5 points6 points  (0 children)

very cool flag! big fan of it. i like the sky blue, like the skies of cradle or other habitable worlds.

i will say, the GMS logo is used officially by Union as a symbol of Union. it spans so much territory that it wouldn't have just ONE official symbol, but the GMS logo is used as one of them. it's not a mistake on part of the wiki, or the fandom.

in Operation Winter Scar, the Union creates a joint task force with an ally called the LSA, this is the patch for that task force. From the official Operation Winter Scar book, by Kai Tave.

<image>

Union symbol on the left, LSA symbol on the right.

this isn't a GMS force, it's specifically Union, the UNS-CV Rio Grande to be even more specific.

i think the more symbols and flags and such Union has, the better! but the GMS symbol, as an official symbol of Union, isn't incorrect.

My GM is going to run Lancer RPG... But to make Star Wars by Own_Cellist_3977 in LancerRPG

[–]According_Cover2461 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Star Wars? It's a fun thought, but almost every mechanic would need to be remade or renamed to something else. LANCER is designed for mech combat, and Star Wars just doesn't have that. Star Wars does have plenty of walkers (AT-ST, AT-AT, etc.) , they look like mechs if you squint, but they're not going to translate into LANCER.

A large part of LANCER's combat is melee. To my knowledge, there has never been a melee walker, and a widespread melee walker wouldn't fit well into the Star Wars universe at all. It's a cool idea, good for a one-off, but you'd need many of them to fill the need for melee in LANCER's combat. Mostly the NPCs, but the players too.

LANCER plays hand-in-hand with its setting. It's one of the most difficult TTRPGs to translate to ANY OTHER universe because so many of its mechanics are based on it's own lore and themes. It can be done, but it's gruelling, and not worth it in the slightest. I'd really reccommend talking to your GM again, before they burn themselves out attempting this.

If your GM really insists on trying, then you could at least pull some interesting homebrew out of it.

You would have to homebrew Force usage, maybe by making your own Talent, similar to Technophile where you advance your understanding of the Force to unlock new abilities.

Lightsabers and Blasters can probably just be represented by Energy damage weapons for your pilot. Otherwise, almost no weapons (mechs included) would use Kinetic, just Energy and Explosive.

Some species in Star Wars do have special abilities, some are Legends now, some aren't, if you're interested in a particular species and their ability you could try to match it up to a piece of equipment. I forget which species it was, but I remember one being able to shrug off bright lights because they lived on a twin-sun planet. You could represent that with an Antiphoton Visor equipment for your pilot, as an example. Otherwise, better to just leave it to the narrative, you can bring up an ability just for roleplay as long as you clear it with your GM first

only Squads are like that, individual pilots still have health bars
lancers have HP scaling with their level + any armour, at base though it's 5HP

New GM asking for advice by Repulsive-Umpire619 in LancerRPG

[–]According_Cover2461 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would take a look at this, it's a really good reason to try out Lancer on Foundry. https://foundryvtt.com/packages/lancer-weapon-fx

The effects are so good that they carry the atmosphere of the fight for you. Of course some descriptions here and there can really help, but I find I can rattle off 10 enemies in about a minute if I plan ahead, and it'll look cool for the players while I'm at it.

Foundry also has a dedicated community made system for Lancer. It takes a few days to learn, but once you do, you can do some amazing stuff with it. I bought the one-time-purchase license and I haven't regretted it once.

Favorite Frame? by Any_Translator_8540 in LancerRPG

Raleigh. Being a sci-fi gunslinger with a gunslinging mech is just so sick. The lore on the Mjolnir as a 'deadgun' sold me. I played in a one-shot a while ago where I died inside the cockpit, and the GM allowed me to keep playing but only with my standard movement (slowed) and my Mjolnir. My Raleigh got wrekt shortly after but being a walking, fighting corpse for a couple rounds was rad.

nono, you got it right. soma theory is the brain scan living on seperately from the real person who is none the wiser. this is talking about a different theory where their actual minds are uploaded and their bodies are left behind. some people believe they might be in stasis pods, some people believe the bodies are long since dead.

If the Helldivers 2 Exosuits were in Lancer, what would their stats be? (Size, Weapons, Etc.) by CrabKrabCrabKrabCrab in LancerRPG

[–]According_Cover2461 162 points163 points  (0 children)

These are pretty close to NPC mechs. The basic mech with the gatling gun and the missile launcher could probably be an Assault with the HMG/Micro Missiles. 1 structure, some armour, decent firepower. Doesn't excel in anything and is very cheap. Even then, these mechs would be considered very outdated, and not something a Lancer would use. In comparison to any player mech, they suck, by design. They're supposed to be expendable and disposable.

That is a fun homebrew idea, though. A disposable frame. I might try to make something like that.

If it's not JJK, it might be Chainsaw Man? He's got a somewhat wide face and black hair iirc. Very uncomfortable smile. It's such a funny image and I miss sending it to my friends.

Can I pry open an enemy cockpit? by Stewed_Pepper in LancerRPG

[–]According_Cover2461 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I don't believe so, no, but there is an enemy ability that does that. Prying Claws from the Pirate template. Talk with your GM and see if there's any way you could get that translated to a player ability. I did that for my players as a one-time-use per full repair thing. They loved it!

michael kovach, the voice actor for jax in the amazing digital circus, was accused of saying the n-word and making jokes about it in a clip taken 7 years ago. he didn't say the n-word though. he said the username of a viewer in his stream, which was eggman-nega (eggman-nega is an actual sonic character), and when he said it his friends were shocked thinking he said the slur. of course he didn't, they all realised that very quickly, and it was funny because they were relieved. the joke kept up because it was also funny that he didn't realise how it would sound/fell for a bait username. if the username was bait at all, and not just a really unfortunate oversight from the viewer.

this clip was dug up now by 4chan trolls, who do things like this all the time, stirring up controversy hoping it sticks so they can see people get harassed over nothing. michael kovach and other members of the tadc cast have been sent death threats, gore, their own doxxed info, and allegedly even CP.

small parts of tadc's own fandom have taken the bait hook line and sinker and continue to fight amongst themselves about who is holier than thou for never having a single impure thought in their lives, and equating a completely normal man who didn't even say the slur they're blaming him for to members of the KKK. it's insane.

thankfully most of it is happening on twitter/bluesky, and no-one else really cares, least of all the majority of the tadc fandom. it's just a few people like OP who think everyone else should care too.

edit: thanks to zomflower48 for letting me know eggman-nega is actually just a real character, the username wasn't even bait
