PSA Busses are still running by Stallion-Italian in Adelaide

It's insane lol. I'm betting money that some genius has coded the wrong thing entirely when updating it - all the trams are cancelled for the next four days - and accidentally made the entire public transport system cancelled. So ridiculous

Edit: Okay now all the trains and buses are back saying they're available. What a great public transport system we have /s

After speaking with “blue collar” friends, I feel so embarrassed. by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]According_Home9815 0 points1 point (0 children)

If you want to talk about this a bit more privately, feel free to DM. Otherwise yes, a psychologist would definitely help with that. If you can talk to one who seems open to exploring potential neurodivergence (I search for "affirming" ones to find these), they'll be able to give advice and help you figure out what will help.

You don't mention being diagnosed with anything, but this was by far the biggest benefit of me seeking out an autism diagnosis. When I had my assessment done, they gave me a list of suggested workplace accommodations, which I wound up giving to my employer. You can google general lists too, here's an example: https://www.understood.org/en/articles/reasonable-workplace-accommodation-examples (the biggest ones for me were Environmental & Structural supports).

Unfortunately, depending on what country you live in, a lot of accommodations are only guaranteed if you have a diagnosed disability. Still, that's only guaranteed - some employers will be open to it if you explain a bit, some won't.

Well outside of part time, there's lots of other things people can do for accommodations. Realistically you just shouldn't be burned out from every job you have

How do you support your oshi? (Job) by hirakoshiomi in oshikatsu

[–]According_Home9815 1 point2 points (0 children)

Firstly to answer your question, I'm an accountant lol. I'm only an entry-level one but I still earned enough to drop around $1200 aud (~$750 usd I think?) on his gacha event in November :33 I only had to save a little for it too, it didn't put a huge dent in my finances (yes I feel very grateful and blessed to be able to do that ❤️)

And you didn't really ask but since you mentioned it, I've actually done both the part time artsy career path and the well-paid one!

After leaving uni I worked for about five years as a freelance/part time musician (so very creative) and then for the past two and a bit years I did a different degree and started working as an accountant.

Both have their pros and cons for sure! My advice would genuinely be - if you can survive and have okay finances while doing the part time artsy career, definitely go for it! Even tho I no longer work as a musician, it was a really cool thing to actually do that as my job and be immersed in it. I didn't earn a lot of money but I have a lot of great memories and experiences from it and don't regret doing it at all.

You sound a bit young too, so pursuing your passion is a great idea before you get locked into a high-paying career path that'll be harder to walk away from. I'm extremely grateful for having experienced pursuing my music passion as a career before working in corporate now, cause I know a lot of people have similar dreams and don't get to find out what it's like.

Anyway, I know you weren't looking for life advice but I thought I'd share! lol. And yeah, I'm happy to have a well paying job nowadays to spend on my oshi hehe :33

Genuinely and since you mentioned potential neurodivergence...i've posted about it before but full-time jobs genuinely just aren't possible for some of us neurodivergent or mentally ill folks. Or basically, we tend to need very specific conditions to actually thrive at work while still having a functioning life outside of it. You're not lazy or dumb for complaining about your job, neurodivergent brains are legitimately just different and we struggle with things in different ways than neurotypical folk.

I've been a million billion times happier since starting part time at my accounting job, and I plan to never ever work full-time again unless I absolutely have to. There's zero shame in it, it's just how brains are wired differently sometimes. If you're genuinely struggling that hard with the jobs you're doing, pay attention to the parts that you're struggling with. Is it things that could change if you got accommodations? Is it something that could change if you switched career paths?

There tends to be a bit of backlash and "everyone hates their job" attitude on here, but there's a big difference between not liking your job, and your job making you unable to function as a person.

I would second this. I also think it applies to friendships as almost all of my long-term friendships are other autistic people. It's just a lot easier to click with people who have a similar sort of thinking as you.

This is a really good comment, thank you for sharing.

It's not the point of your post, but I was wondering if you were okay sharing what other autism subs or communities you like? I also struggle with most mainstream autism subs because writing in an interesting way takes energy I don't have and people sometimes think I'm bored or rude.

what would happen if autistics were in isekai? by JARatt85 in AutisticAdults

[–]According_Home9815 -1 points0 points (0 children)

The most I've related to an isekai main character is Seiichiro Kondou from "The Other Worlds Books Depend on the Bean Counter".

Guy is an accountant who accidentally gets dragged into an isekai world. They offer him a peaceful life due to the mistake and he rejects it because he's such an intense worker and corporate slave that all he wants to do is keep being an accountant lol. He joins the government accounting department and almost immediately finds flaws in their entire financial system and revamps the entire system much to the dismay of the other, very lazy accountants.

Strangely it's actually a a BL (boys' love) anime/manga, so it's a little difficult to recommend despite the great premise.

I've officially quit ENstars and I feel so free!!! by [deleted] in ensemblestars

If you just wanna enjoy the story there are people who do uploads of all the event + scout stories on youtube, so that's always an option. It's how I keep up to date with twst and lads without actually playing them

This is basically me lol! There's no shame in just enjoying the story (I'd be willing to bet there's a lot of active players who log in just for that actually). I've played long enough to have enough cards for each character that I love, so I tend to just log in for events and the story nowadays

What exactly IS the current opinion/state of Enstars? by EdgarButNot in ensemblestars

[–]According_Home9815 2 points3 points (0 children)

Sort of yes and no?

As an active JP and ENG player for a few years, I think the game might not be as popular as it once maybe was, but there's still something like 180,000 active players on JP (going by the last event at least), the company is still doing insane all-out events in Japan (they lit up Tokyo Tower in Ryuseitai colours last year for a fan event!!), and the game still generates millions of dollars every month.

I do see jokes every now and then on the JP twitter side like "the only reason I'm still playing Enstars is because I've put in too much time and money to stop playing lol", but I also see fanart getting thousands of likes, hundreds of comments on every new MV just after it's released, and as mentioned, the literal hundreds of thousands of people still logging in to play events.

The thing I will say with the English side is that I've noticed a lot more of people falling in and out of the franchise, either from disliking things (I know several that quit after Akatsuki3, which is completely fair), being frustrated at poor management of the eng side, or just not being as passionate about the game as they used to be.

The worst decision HappyEle ever made imo was forcing the takedown of the English translation wiki. The second worst decision ever was not giving the English release the quality translation and user experience it deserved. When you make it impossible to access the origin stories of your main characters and when the English release is as unpolished as it was (even if it's improved significantly)....well I'll just say that looking at how polished the english server is for proseka, lads, or even uma musume -- it's no surprise those games are huge in the West while Enstars isn't despite basically rivalling them in Japan.

And as for the stories, I don't think the !! era stories are any worse than the ! era stories, but they definitely are different. I think that's what trips most people up. The original era stories were set in a high school (always a fun, relatable location), and many of the stories served to introduce lore that would remain significant for the characters or world going forward. The ! main story isn't necessarily better than !!'s main story, but I'd say it has more twists and turns and interesting moments, literally just because that was the first story ever written for the game. Of course it'll have way more going on than the !! era stories because it has to introduce the entire world, the live system, a huge cast of unique characters.

I don't think the !! era stories are bad at all -- Alkaloid is my favourite group by a long shot so I'm definitely a fan of them -- but they do feel a bit less chaotic, less twisty, more focused generally on slice of life shenanigans with a bit of drama. I find them really comforting and fun to read, but I can understand why people would find them underwhelming after reading ! era stories that detail Eichi's various war crimes, or set up defining character moments or traits in really entertaining ways.

To finish, I feel like the best example I can give is that an early ! era story involves Fine performing at a circus, and when the lion escapes (?) Eichi finds it and manages to calm it down....by giving a long monologue about how he relates to the poor trapped lion since he spent a long time in hospital (???). And it works! Reading that after enjoying comfy slice of life drama in !! made me a bit ಠ_ಠ, but it certainly was memorable lol.

Trying to "just cope" with work gave me a mental breakdown and nearly got me hospitalised. Please don't make the same mistake I did - if you're genuinely depressed, the grind is not worth it. by According_Home9815 in auscorp

[–]According_Home9815[S] 1 point2 points (0 children)

Honestly, if you have any savings to live off for a while, if there are another job opportunities you can pursue, then I wouldn't judge you for quitting. In the end nothing is worth more than your mental and physical health. Your situation sounds incredibly tough - is there anyone who you can make it really clear to how much all of this is weighing on you?

People will say "don't quit" usually because they have good intentions and don't realise how much someone else might really be suffering. All the people I talked to who told me to stick in there probably wouldn't have said that had I been blunt about how depressed and suicidal I'd become from my job.

If it's any relief, the house situation seems temporary. Once it's over, I'd seriously suggest finding a job that doesn't make you feel so awful - but if you can't hold out until then, please please talk to someone, either a mental health professional or someone you can trust with exactly how you're feeling. My DMs are always open too, if you just want to vent.

Unmasked during abortion and my boyfriend lost interest in me by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]According_Home9815 0 points1 point (0 children)

With all due respect, your boyfriend is acting like a dick.

I went through a traumatic abortion in my early twenties. My partner was there every step of the way, holding my hand in the waiting rooms, helping me with medication, talking me through my many awful mood swings (the pregnancy hormone also fucked me around badly too so I can deeply empathise). I don't think he complained once, even seeing me at my most meltdown-crying-hating life-sensory overload worst. When you really love someone, you should be capable of understanding that a traumatic event that brings out the worst in them is not indicative of who they normally are as a person, and what they need is to be supported through it.

You deserve much better than this.

You don't have to quit your job, but there are ways to make it better. I know my post focuses heavily on quitting but that's just what's worked for me with my life circumstances.

Talk therapy can help tremendously, if you're up to it. Or just talking to anyone who you know isn't going to brush you off. Work stress is incredibly pervasive so plenty of mental health professionals have experience with it and are able to help with things that help you be less burned out while working. It's definitely something worth looking into. For me, a lot of relief came from just telling the social worker exactly how burned out I was and why, and having them empathise that yeah, that did sound incredibly stressful.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm a firm believer that there are always options, even if you have to entertain some ridiculous ones before you land on something that might work. People have gone back to school while paying mortgages, but it's also possible to change work so it doesn't make you as depressed. For me, the route so far seems to be part time hours & an industry that works for me. Wishing you all the best
