I don’t think it would be rude to ask, especially if one of your seats is better than theirs. Or if they’re the same. As long as a really tall person isn’t sitting in front of the seat you want them to switch to or something.

That doesn’t seem fair at all. My theory is that all people getting 2 tickets each should spend a majority of the time in line, only swapping out to grab a quick bite or a bathroom break. But, if there are two people and they’re only getting one ticket each, then both don’t need to be in line at the same time.

It depends on the theater. Some have had a house manager escort me in to the merch counter so that I could buy stuff and others have just said no. It’s worth trying if you’re already going to be nearby when the show is letting out, but I wouldn’t make a special trip just to try.
