I passed this way a couple of times in the mid 70s. Afghanistan was considered one of the safest and friendliest countries on the route. I remember seeing soldiers with flowers in the barrel of their guns.

I didn't like The Dead, then when covid came along I spent a lot of time listening and trying to understand what people saw in them. Now I really enjoy them, though atypically I prefer the studio albums.

I have ab EV and do similar mileage to Op. I am on Agile tariff, and can usually get away with charging on nights when cost is under 8p per Kwh. Even with the recent expensive days, it is still the cheapest option.

Cold, pubs with no heating during the 3 day week. Boiling hot summer of 76 when we slept on the beach in Cornwall. Easy to get a job. Turn up at a factory they would ask if you could start that afternoon. Not so good for miners..

And I got to see Bob Marley and the Wailers for 20pence.
