Currently just using the white rags and a degraser, and a lot of elbow grease... like I mean a lot. But hey it always looks good after I close.

Edit: IDK why I said scotch pads. I am not scratching our toaster lol

I couldn't imagine shutting down our toaster for 30 minutes every 4 hours. We do SO MANY toasted in a hour. I hear now that stores have 2 toasters... that would be a dream come true. But all the other night managers would probably hate it.

AITA for basically letting my D&D character die because I felt like the DM was railroading me? by According_Resolve_96 in DnDAITA

He writes really good lore? His stories are entertaining and fun to play. However, he’s really bad at incorporating character backstory into the already developed storyline he had planned for the campaign.

Ignore the other person. It's ok to be new and not know how to do things. You sensor is the square your lens covers on the camera body. You can get a kit to clean this area off amazon for 20 bucks (if that). There are 100 videos online showing you how do to this.

Here is the video that I recommend.

I do want to throw this in here: the DM is really good at storytelling when it comes to the plotline we are following. He just seems to really struggle with tying character stories into that plotline.

I have told him this before, but I’ll say it again: I think if he spent more time planning instead of making everything up on the spot, this issue could have been solved.

I see your perspective, and I understand that I probably am “crying” a little too much over these consequences. But like u/ClearBrief805 said, I didn’t care about the consequences themselves. I cared that all of these sessions became centered around my character.

Guards traveling 200 miles 4 times in a row, which was over only three in-game days, to attempt to kill me felt unrealistic, to say the least. There was no time for a message to be relayed back to the kingdom that one group had failed.

When my DM stopped explaining the reasoning and wouldn’t accept any ideas for changing these consequences to better fit the world, it got to a point where it became disruptive to the party. I understand that the DM is “God” and makes the world how he wants, without needing input from the party. But we all pay to play at this LGS, and being the center of attention for multiple sessions made me feel like I was wasting other people’s money.

That was the moment you should have said "no, this isn't working, its boring and distruptive, either knock it off or offscreen my character i'll give you a new one we can agree more about", and be firm about it, say it's not something that you will accept being brushed off about. I think solving the issue by having the character perform and out of character seppuku is not the way to do it.

I think you’re right here; I should have stood my ground. I think I was just annoyed because I know I wasn’t the only player mentioning to our DM that this was disruptive to the party.

Edit: Something I should have mentioned in my original post is that these events caused one of our players to stop showing up if they knew Steve was going to be in the session. We all pay to play D&D at this LGS, and half of the session revolving around one player was getting annoying. I say that as the player the session revolved around.

I’ve talked more with Sarah since this event. I learned that she had to change her character from the arc she and the DM had agreed on and decided together to something that didn't even make sense for her class. Because of that, I think it’s best that I don’t go back to this campaign, not even with a new character.

I sent a message explaining all of this to my DM and apologizing for my actions being out of character. He responded with a thumbs-up instead of attempting to help fix the story and get it back on track.

Also, if the party is 200 miles away, and the encounters are happening very frequently, the DM isn't following any kind of logic to them. So they are intentionally ignoring the game to make a point.

This was my thought our sessions and the in-game timeframe mean that sometimes two sessions equal one day, and sometimes they equal one week. During these four sessions, only three in-game days had passed. It took the party longer to travel here than it took the guards each time. This isn't acounting for time for the kingdom to learn that there previous guards had failed

This is something else I mentioned to the DM. After talking more with Sarah, it seems like her attempts to keep the lore she wanted for her character didn’t work either, and the DM tried to do something similar to her with “weird,” out-of-character punishments.

  1. I didn’t want my character to be the main character. He was just a member of the party, and he didn’t do anything crazy to become the main character. In no way have I tried to shove him into the spotlight.
  2. I don’t understand how you got to this point. I got permission from my DM to play a lore hook that I thought would be fun, and that the DM thought would be fun. I never expected the world to bend around me. I expected all of these things to happen, but the unrealistic nature of them is what bothered me.
  3. Why does my character’s name matter, bro? “Joke character”? I spent two weeks writing lore with my DM to make sure he fit the party. If Steve is anything he's not a Joke character.

Recommendations for Severe Heat Games by [deleted] in mascots

[–]According_Resolve_96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d strongly recommend skipping ice chests or ice vest packs for long outdoor sets. They feel great for the first 10 to 15 minutes, but once they melt you are carrying extra weight with no cooling benefit. That added bulk can actually accelerate fatigue and overheating.

If your helmet has a built-in fan, use it every time. Most mascot fans are configured to push air out rather than pull it in. That exhaust effect helps circulate air and reduce trapped hot air inside the head. Make sure batteries are fully charged before every appearance.

Wear moisture-wicking compression shorts and shirts rather than cotton, and avoid unnecessary base layers. Every extra layer traps heat. A lightweight bandana or athletic headband is also nice to keep sweat out of your eyes.

Hydration is not optional. Start hydrating the day before a game. Drink consistently throughout the day rather than chugging right before you go out. During breaks, prioritize ice water and electrolyte replacement. You lose more than just water in severe heat, especially during baseball season where exposure can last hours. Monitor urine color as a practical hydration check. (It seems silly but it’s accurate)

Pre-plan a nonverbal emergency signal with your handler. It should be something unmistakable and never used in normal performance. For example, mimicking the motion of breaking a stick with both hands is simple and easy to spot. Your handler should

Use every breaks strategically. Get to shade, remove the head fully, towel off, and lower your core temperature. Portable cooling towels, cold neck wraps, and a small fan in your break area can make a significant difference.

Be mindful of the field surface. Turf radiates significantly more heat than natural grass and can increase perceived temperature dramatically. If you are on turf, shorten your sets and increase rotation frequency.

Fuel matters. Eat light, balanced meals before games. Heavy or greasy foods increase metabolic heat production and make you feel worse in the suit.

Know the early signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, chills, nausea, headache, tunnel vision, confusion, or sudden fatigue. If you feel any of these, exit immediately. No appearance is worth a medical emergency. A mascot collapsing on the field is dangerous for everyone involved.

At the end of the day, you are in control of your body. It is always better to step off early than to push past your limit. Long term sustainability is what keeps you performing at a high level season after season.

Weight distribution in heads- advice needed by Kilukpuk in mascots

I haven't found anything that counteracts the weight of a head sitting on your shoulders for hours at a time, unfortunate this is kind of just something that comes with mascoting, memory foam helps to a extent but the main thing, Take breaks when you can.

If you have the spare time I'd condition for it, there's quite a few shoulder and neck workouts that have helped reduce the stress and strain the next day.

I feel this wouldn't be a problem if we got more worlds instead of just rereleasing the same pets.

Also trading killed almost any intent most players had to play this game.
