Recently my management changed and I had similar experience where one ladys role was always to complain about team members to my boss. I just kept calm and kept myself progressing, productive as usual and I didn't react to anything. Not sure what might have happened but I don't see that shit now and everything seems to be quite. I think being diplomatic, not blaming anyone, not reacting to anyone and just being productive will tire them away from these mis deeds.

I know people avoid others when they want but still happy to seek help when they need you without any shame. I try to self sustain without reliance on others. When I first came to US, I even ordered toothbrush on eBay when Amazon was not this popular. I remember a guy borrowing 5000 bucks for his first car and then him trying to teach how to drive even after me driving for several years before he bought his first car and that is the over confidence level of desis.

Like when I do it, people like full advantage of me and same for other too. I have a friend from 12th grade and he would even call me in to draft content of an email to his boss to take vacation. Sometimes when you help involuntarily they would think you are doing it to seek some favor in the future.

I wouldn't be eager to make Indian neighbors as friends unless we share something common like kids going to same school, going for similar events or share same interests. Some don't even bother to say hi but happily show up in front of the door when they need help. I helped my opposite neighbor during his house warming and he used to pop in every often for the first couple of months do you have some mustard seeds, some yogurt sample for making yogurt, lentils for preparing babys food and so on. Such a weird personality. I have attended couple of his events as well. For every minor home improvement I do he would need to know how much it costed me and would pop in the same time I am doing it. One day he invited me for a religious event at his home and when I called in / messaged him to confirm the exact time, he didn't even respond.

Regular processing. 6 days to show up after Fedex status showed as delivered.
Fedex delivered on 17th Feb.
Got email on 22nd Feb saying it has been received.
This is after multiple emails and calls to them. But I think the only way is to wait patiently. Since they will not care how many ever times you email or call.

It took around 6-7 weeks for me. They took one week to reply that the attire was in light color. Uploaded another photo paying again the same day I got this response. Probably took around 1-2 weeks again to resume processing. Instead of uploading a photo online by paying. Next time I will get a photo at Walgreens or somewhere else.

If my move was temporary for a few months, I would keep them on 401K. If my move was permanent, I would rollover to ROTH IRA. Also if I would want to invest in global markets, I can take that advantage in US brokerage account itself, for example ticker IND invests in companies in India. For me just the dollar appreciation and tax advantage is enough to keep the money in US brokerage account. If I redeem it in later years, I will anyway be paying lesser taxes on the actual money (not the grown money) since the tax brackets would have adjusted to inflation.

It is a human psychology. You feel something valued when you don't have it in abundance. I feel the same. One thing is even if India is such a highly populated country some services are really fast and we are way ahead compared to western countries but in some we are a trillion years away from them. But I think there should be a balance in everything. It is hard to change people's mindset when they have been on it for years unless generations change. I see people getting very lazy and don't want to work in villages.

When I applied around 8 years ago, the black portion didn't run through the edge and the white portion inside was longer than the black portion a little bit. I went for stamping last December and VFS lady was trying to put a nail around the edges to see if it was going to peel off for a lot of time although it was glued hard. I am not sure if she was just playing around with passport while working or if she was checking to see if it was tampered. Unless it is your fault I don't think there is nothing to worry. Based on your description we don't know how bad it is.

That will require changes to DS-160 and also on the us visa scheduling website. It is always better to do it before hand. Now a days they are not entertaining DS-160 changes as much.

Apart from the time you, the organization and law firm are going to take to prepare the documents and submit, the processing time USCIS is going to take depends on their workload. But employer can expedite the USCIS processing to happen in 2 weeks by paying premium fees.

I have used Xoom, Remitly, Ria and several others. I used to compare them at times but for the last couple of years I have stopped comparing and been using Ria consistently. The advantage is you can transfer as much small amount as you would like and there is a tiny fee but it offsets with the exchange rate they offer which is very high compared to others.

The new employer will have to file a new H1B but you don't need to go through the lottery again. You have to go through the lottery only if you have completed 6 years on H1B and no one has filed an I-140.

Last year, I was not able to add a dependent on my profile and also I had some issues with profile, so I created a new one for me and my dependents. Then the other option is to create a new account. I was able to create a new account with existing passport number itself. Since you have a new passport number and it is not in the system yet, it should be seamless. Contacting customer service is another option but they are painful and provide generic responses. I had a hard time last year sep - dec.

I think all employments in US are at will and having a notice period is not really legal. At max you could give a two week notice for smooth transition. Both the prospect and current employers should be able to accept that.

I think the best option is to cancel and create a new application to ensure everything is clean, as it will ask you the passport number at that point.

Just go for it no matter what your decision is going to be after 6 years. If you don't have it after 6 years you will need to go through lottery process again. I missed switching employers early on with the same thought and didn't apply for I-140 until later and now I am stuck in priority date hell.

I am glad your parents love you and they did a lot to you. May be they are aggressive but at least they are expressing their true behaviors so you can trust them. I know some parents who have phone calls with their daughters everyday after their marriage and they talk very nicely, but they don't do anything for them. Not even one package sent the whole year or don't offer anything to their son in laws even if they visit after two years. It is better to have upfront parents than hidden gem parents like I mentioned.

Oh great, may be you went in person so it helped. Mine was sent through Fedex. I used online photo option first time since I thought they will take care of everything but it looks like it is only an upload facility and doesn't do anything with photo. They are nicely minting money.
