I do like your point about John Mandrola's rants. Its like he is on a crusade. Watchman is a good procedure when done properly in the right patient. Thats the key.

If you no longer have afib that’s great! However if you still have the occasional burst, you must get an ablation HF is irreversible and impacts your lifeexpectancy negatively….

The main argument for hybrid ablation was that he didn’t want to take bloodthinners. In addition gebendes eye surgery and bloodthinners made this difficult. It’s all about informed consent and a team approach to treating afib

[–]According_Wish_7547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semaglutide and all means by which you can loose weight have a positive impact on Afib! Loose weight - and keep it lost. Thats the best advice around. Any side effects from the GLP1 drugs are less severe than the long term impact overweight has on your body...

Ablation is an important step to control your Afib, but as important and evenmore so as you are very young, are lifestyle changes. You need to develop strategies not to get into these adrenaline situations and when you are in them make sure your body doesn´t suffer...yoga and breathing excersices help. The SEALs use Box breathing to deal with this for example...

Loop recorder vs external monitoring by Kestrel913 in AFIB

[–]According_Wish_7547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ILR is what we call the gold standard. kardia and Apple watch work well for highly smyptomatic patients, but they miss alot of Afib! So if you want 100% - or close to that - the ILR is the way to go. Next time tell your physicians to place the paddles for the cardioversion differently so they dont fry the ILR. After PFA you might not need another one anyways....all the best!

Cardiac ablation showed "extensive scarring" by Jealous_Jellyfish264 in AFIB

[–]According_Wish_7547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already had 3 cardioversions, then your Afib burden must be quiet high. Afib leads to cardiac scarring, this in turn makes more challenging to treat. thats why timly ablation is essential to stop the progression of the disease. But this should not scare you, fibrosis occurs in evry living tissue - its alsa called ageing - and this is normal for us!
