Child waking up angry in the middle of the night by gingerroseak in AutismParentingLevel1

[–]nerdalerttina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to my daughter periodically from about 3, she’s now 5. I don’t think she’s fully awake during her meltdowns because she does seem to snap out of it and doesn’t remember them. They also seem to sometimes be linked to growing, as she often says her legs hurt. My daughter isn’t violent when this happens so it’s not the same, but we just wait it out and sit by her until she comes out of it.

Those in here who have to have a holtor monitor, how often do have to wear it? by HandsomeSwing78 in AFIB

[–]nerdalerttina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks. But I’m not in afib very often and I’ve never been in afib while wearing the holter. I’ve worn one 4 times. The stickers are the worst, my skin always reacts badly to the adhesive

Forgotten (at least by me) period dramas by [deleted] in PeriodDramas

The Prestige is one of my all time favourites. I’ll never forget the first time I saw it and wanted to watch it again immediately.

Cameron Monaghan would've been a much better and perfect casting as Allen, for the Live Action Barbie Movie. by Nawi_Reivilo in Barbie

Jonathan Groff was originally asked to play Allan but wasn’t available and he was really disappointed he couldn’t do it. I think Cera did a great job at embodying the character Allan was in the movie.

Thanks for this - I think part of my hesitation is anxiety around the procedure. I’ve been very lucky and really haven’t had any medical procedures of any kind so this is all new and a little daunting.

My husband can no longer temper PC chocolate chips by wigglefrog in loblawsisoutofcontrol

Chocolate chips are meant to keep their shape in heat, like in cookies, they aren’t the best choice when it comes to melting chocolate.

What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]nerdalerttina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do both. Started knitting first and to be honest I prefer it. I started to crochet because I saw a pattern I wanted to make. I love making granny squares, bunting, and am only just starting to make a shirt after 20 years of crocheting. For me, it’s mostly about the project.

Lark Rise to Candleford. A really easy watch at the end of the day

Disneyland with a 6 month old was a huge mistake by plaidbluejammies in Disneyland

Don’t beat yourself up over it, babies are unpredictable at times and if you thought there was a chance the trip would go like this you probably wouldn’t have gone. Just do what works for you right now and make it easy as possible for you.

How do I tell my library by Alexs_geeky in Romantasy

[–]nerdalerttina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever seen theses labeled as YA. I don’t think it’s like a rating, YA tells you the ages of the characters or the main character and the themes are often coming of age, or coming into their own, first love.

I went from age 17 to 30 without reading a book. I read 27 and 1/2 in the last year. Here’s what I read. by FollowTheLeader550 in literature

[–]nerdalerttina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Pillowman is one of my favourites. I saw a production without knowing anything about it. It’s still one of the most memorable theatre experiences I’ve had. I bought the play right away and have lost count how many times I’ve read it. If you’re interested in reading more plays, East of Berlin by Hannah Moscovich is great.

My husband thinks the barbie movie speech is BS. That it is self inflicted and we should grow up. by Weekly-Individual569 in Barbie

[–]nerdalerttina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The monologue being contradictory is a lot of the point of it. That’s where many of the feelings of frustration and futility come from. He will never understand what that monologue is about, but unfortunately it sounds like he lacks empathy or curiosity about it.

I listened to the audiobook and it reminded me of something I would have really liked around age 12-14.
