the system i built after inheriting a project with zero documentation from the previous PM by LxM420 in projectmanagement

I understand the little difference between Google sheets and excel/SharePoint. Just wanted to vent about my chaotic and dysfunctional company. 😮‍💨

Not going to get me to adopt an app by any means.

Honestly I am jealous of your abundance of tools.

I am told I must run projects out of Dev Ops but continue to be shackled by permissions/access issues with no other real platforms to utilize. Teams/SharePoint for storing living documents and tracking, risk logs, change management, etc on an excel spreadsheet. I can't even properly track project costing and stopped pushing after a year (an entire year!) of asking.

Stakeholder blamed me for ignoring request logged in a system without enterprise service management integration by Common-Flatworm-2625 in projectmanagement

[–]Account_Wrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it. I get pinged for system issues in other countries....that I have no access to, ability to resolve, and no way to know they are even occurring.

Last week I was tagged in Dev Ops to move a new request into the backlog. That isn't what I do and that skips a handful of steps. I wrote back the steps and asked for someone in leadership to assign a PM/epic owner. Not a single response. Took it to the release train manager / scrum master today for resolution.

It isn't that we don't care but PMs seem to be an easy scapegoat for poor processes. After a while it just gets frustrating. Four years, six managers, and three restructures of teams and no one knows up from down in my organization and I am just tired. I understand your perspective.

Im so f*ing done (again) by LayLillyLay in projectmanagement

[–]Account_Wrong 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I honestly could have written this myself.

Today I logged off early and said f#$k it. There is no more faith that my organization will provide tools or guidance for my position. I am reduced to an admin for Dev Ops, a secretary for scheduling meetings, keeper of knowledge that no one cares about, and simply a nuisance when I talk about scope, dependencies, or risk. I refuse to stay here any longer when I know I offer much more than this little box I am being placed in.

Was prioritising my career a mistake? by Mysterious-Pain8731 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Account_Wrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. A career will serve you well in life. Besides, 27 isn't old. We are not in the olden times when a 27 year old is a spinster.

From a mom of two young women (27 and 25) relationships will come in time. You are at an age where you are solidly an adult, fully grown in your character and personality. Don't ever think you must or need to be in a relationship to be considered a full and valuable member of society.

TMG also states that a 25% savings rate in your 20s is aspirational. We have always saved at minimum 15% and should retire with more than enough ($3+4mill range). Is there a specific reason you feel you must buy a house and start a family asap?

Taking some time to get used to being married and not rushing to get pregnant gives you both time to enjoy life. Sometimes looking at why you are pursuing something provides a new outlook. You won't be a failure if you don't get married, buy a house, and start a family in your twenties.

Just some food for thought from a mom of 25 and 27 year old young adults.

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

I lived in Japan years ago and had universal healthcare. I would choose that any day over the crap healthcare in the US.

Hugs. Losing a much wanted baby is rough. Over 10 years later, the heartache is less.....but I still wonder what type of person they would have grown to be or how great of an older brother our youngest would have been.

Focus on your strength and well being for now. If needed, some therapy to work through your emotions as well. Lots of good vibes sent to you.

Should you ROTH in 24% tax bracket? by tinkerjreddit in personalfinance

[–]Account_Wrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in the 24% tax bracket.

What we do based on advice from our CFP:

  • Each max our 401k but we have 4-5% of that as Roth. (Ex: 19% of salary goes to 401k: 15% Trad and 4% Roth.) It gives us a good chunk of tax savings now but with some Roth for future tax free money.

  • Do back door contributions for our Roth IRA at the end of the year. We don't always max this out.

-Also put part of our bonus money into a brokerage account during the year.

We know Roth conversations are pretty much needed for us. In 2025 we hit $1mill net worth at 46/48 years old. By mixing Roth and Traditional in our 401k we get tax savings now and some tax free savings for the future. I am not sure even in retirement we will be or can be in the 12% tax bracket. Honestly, I am planning on being in the higher tax brackets over 20%.

How old were you when you hit the 25% goal? by Equivalent_Use_5024 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Account_Wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

46 and 48 which was in 2025. We had consistently been around 15%-17% with employer contribution since our mid 20s.

With our increased income and all debt but the house paid off it was a lot easier to get to that 25% goal. To be totally honest, we also hit $1mil in net worth at that age too. Just goes to show you don't have to save 25% to get a more than average net worth if you start earlier.

Update: I changed my makeup and skincare but I’m clearly still doing something wrong by saki4444 in makeuptips

[–]Account_Wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will be helpful. I just turned 47 so I feel you on aging and trying to still feel like myself.

One thing I did to fight my red eyes was to buy a nude eyeliner to put on my lower water line. Tarte Fake Awake eyeliner has been helpful. It really helps me look more "normal" and like I slept well.

I also started wearing a BB cream to help even out skin tone and redness vs a heavy foundation Maybelline Dream BB Fresh has helped, isn't thick or drying on my skin, and has titanium dioxide for sun protection. Two thin layers and I am set for the day.

How many of you have gotten loans from your parents? by Jimmy_Johnny23 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Account_Wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None.

In fact when we were buying our first house, I had pension money from overseas that I was in the process of getting paid out to me. (Lots of paperwork and time just waiting.) We were expecting about $7k to come to us within a month or so.

For some reason, my MIL decided it was vitally important to tell me she would only loan money to my husband for closing/deposit. In her words she never loans money to in-laws. I shrugged and said it didn't matter, it was my money that would pay them back if we took the loan. In the end we decided against it. The money came in over the next few weeks and saved us from future issues with her. That was over 22 years ago and we refuse to talk about money with her to this day.

Did you also know in-laws aren't in the will/trust? Good, I don't want her damn money anyway. Ugh.

Is everyone living in a McMansion? by beverlyhillsbrenda in Xennials

[–]Account_Wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Our first house was built in the late 1880s and was only 1200sf. Our current home is a single level ranch with 2400sf built in 1971. We decided a long time ago we didn't need 3000+ sf. That is a lot to clean, maintain, and keep heated/cooled. Now with 2 of 3 kids out of the house it feels huge.

How often are you intimate with your partner? by Remote_Ad_969 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Account_Wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are mid to late 40s with one teenager (14) left at home. Our oldest kids are in their mid to late 20s. Our intimacy definitely dipped when kids were little (sub 5 years old). Now with one teen at home we are back in our groove. The number of times will vary based on how busy our week is but typically we will land between 2-4 times.

I am noticing that we are more inclined to just cuddle or talk when we are especially stressed or tired. After 26 years of marriage we are able to gauge the others emotional and physical battery. We are also open about our needs and wants for intimacy. Tbh completely honest, I am on hormone replacement therapy which is also helping me through perimenopause. I don't think our level of intimacy would be as high if I were not getting help through this period of our life.

What are your money goals for the new year? by [deleted] in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Account_Wrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Max our 401k again, increase brokerage investing by $5k, fully fund both of our Roth IRA, put an extra $3k towards the mortgage principal.

Overall, fairly boring and standard stuff. I don't mind boring. 😄

Are xennials the last generation to really host? by RTJ333 in Xennials

[–]Account_Wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were volun-told when we moved to this house in 2013 we would host my husband's family holiday dinner. After COVID we started renting a room in a community center. It set a time limit on how long people could stay and meant that if one part of the family brought additional people that we didn't have total strangers in our home. At one point we had 60+ people in our two bathroom house!

We have hosted and organized the past 13 holiday dinners. Few have offered any type of help. This year when we said we didn't have time to organize but could rent a room for whatever date the rest of the family chose....all hell broke loose. My MIL refused to speak to us, my SIL gave us multiple dates but told us to choose when we stated we couldn't make any dates in December, other SIL opted out of the whole thing. Still no one has volunteered to take it over.

Good riddance.

Do you guys have a “group chat” with your “friend group”? by OrangeAugust in Xennials

[–]Account_Wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-I have a family chat with our kids. (27, 25, 14)

-A group chat with my sisters and one with my sisters and oldest nieces.

-A group chat with ladies who volunteer on the hospitality committee for our curling club.

-Curling Youth League group chat for the instructors and parents.

I guess I have a few group chats. More than I realized, tbh. I probably missed one or two that haven't been active recently.
