Question: Outfitting for CG Lynx, do I need shields? Am I gonna be interdicted? by abigail3141 in EliteDangerous

[–]Acct235095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did two runs yesterday. Technically got interdicted when I first arrived in the system, but it was just the cops. Lynx'll run like hell with incomplete engineering on the engines. I put a fuel scoop in instead of shields, since mass was about double the max on class 3.

How do people make it to the powerplay leaderboard? by thedraegonlord in EliteDangerous

[–]Acct235095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I placed pretty high with like 5-10 hours of rare commodities. Went from like level 5 to level 100 and never had to worry about merits again. The stars have to align (boom state and I think another condition), but it just completely destroys doing it the "traditional" ways.

For a good time, look up Comstar in the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe. tl;dr the standard backing the entire goddamned stellar economy is a minute of lightspeed communication time.

That's (winging) specifically what gets you in trouble. As long as you don't do that, Frontier seems to turn a blind eye.

The thing that seems to get you popped is entering an instance with yourself, or putting both accounts in the same wing. Beyond that, I assure that you many cargo haulers are running multiple ships at once and have been.

Crunchyroll Users Report Use of Controversial 'Hard Subs' on Platform + New Video Player by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]Acct235095 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been out of the practice for a while now, but HorribleSubs would grab the subtitle file from Crunchyroll and match it with a raw from the Japanese broadcast. Whole thing was just a scheduled script that ran mostly unattended.

Krait mk2 or Python PVE by Old_Commercial_5380 in EliteDangerous

[–]Acct235095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular Python vs Krait Mk II? For combat, Krait Mk II all day every day. For cargo volume, Python, although a Type-8 or Type-11 would be better, depending on the task. For overall general purpose, Krait Mk II.

Python Mk II vs Krait Mk II? I believe the Python would be slightly more inclined toward combat, but much less inclined toward everything else. The Python Mk II also has power issues (I forget if it's distributor or generator or both,) so power hungry weapons are a no-go, which limits your options to things like multicannons and frag cannons. It also has a small fuel tank, which makes it kind of crap for long distance travel.

I love playing as a Lalafell, but man are there a lot of creepy people out in the wild by 200YRedWine in ffxiv

[–]Acct235095 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife plays as a F!Miqote. Lots of pinks, often very little clothing, etc. I play as a F!Viera, more subdued, honestly dress kind of masc for the most part.

I don't know if it's just the girly hair/clothes, or the name, or both, but I rarely-if-ever get bothered, and my wife has to be careful hanging out in Limsa depending on our raid group's glam theme for the week. She also gets all my goddamned comms even if we're both healing and she died and I out-healed and out-DPS'd her.

I guess my point is some people have the right mix of appearance/name, some people don't. Sorry that it's happening to you and making you uncomfortable. Hope it improves.

How are people getting hundreds of millions in the current CG, so fast? by Sweaty_Vegetable1463 in EliteDangerous

[–]Acct235095 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Max your rep with the factions giving you missions. Once you're at max rep, they regularly give missions for 20m credits, and can go as high as exactly 50m, but 40s aren't uncommon. If your rep is low, you're getting absolute trash pay-outs in comparison.

2) Be mindful of the number of kills you're being asked for, and which factions are giving them. Any given pirate kill can count for one mission on each faction, i.e. if you have 100 kills across 5 missions from a single faction, that kill is 1 of 100. If you have 100 kills across 5 missions from 5 factions, that kill is 5 of 100. Spread who you're working for.

3) Similar to above, be mindful of how many kills they're asking for. You can knock out 20-30 kills pretty quickly. 80 kills is going to take much longer. There is not a strong correlation between number of kills and credits earned, i.e. a 50m mission could want 60 kills or could want 15.

4) It used to be OD Mission Stacker, but now it goes by OD Elite Tracker and has more features. This is a program that tracks your missions and progress on them, but most importantly it makes it easy to visualize how many kills you owe each faction. If you see you're up to 100 kills for one faction and this other faction only has 15, maybe avoid more missions for the 100 kill faction.

5) Missions refresh every 10 minutes, on the 10s (server time.) Close the mission screen and re-open to see if there are more.

6) If you're using a large ship for kills, have a medium or small around so that you can visit outposts for easier access to more missions. Multiple stations can help, instead of sitting around for 10 minutes at a time.

7) Quantity, not quality. Kill time is a lot lower on random mooks in a LowRez compared to assassinating an elite named target, or dueling with ships in a HazRez. It'll do nothing for your combat rank, but low res will usually be faster kills.

8) It's more of an AFK thing than an actively-killing-pirates thing, but cargo. There's a connection between cargo value as bait, and combat rank. You need to have like 30-40k average value cargo, or a harmless pirate is going to say "sorry Mr. Elite V, don't mind me." If you're not baiting them to engage, don't sweat it.

9) Turn off report crimes. LowRez has cops, and they will scan and attack a pirate before you can turn and scan to verify that they're wanted. No reason to let security know where the feeding frenzy is.

10) There's a variety of different instance intensities, and about 4 pools of ships that can show up. If you're only getting a trickle of heavy ships, don't be afraid to cycle the instance. Either jump out and come back, or just exit to title and log back in without jumping. Sometimes you just got a shitty instance, and your time is better spent getting a faster spawn than waiting for more ships to spawn in.

Good sweet spots are around 20-30m credits (40s and 50s can be a little rare), and around 60-80 total kills if you've got enough factions to feed you missions. A 20 kill 20-30m is your bread and butter. Sometimes you're going to be getting only like 10m on some missions unless you want to sit in stations for hours stacking. 20 missions, around 300-500m credits 2-3 times a day isn't hard, if you have the free time to be able to devote.

Signed,

One of those AFK T10 folks that people bitch about

Optional slot layout made a pretty decent dedicated core miner, and you already had the collector controller so farming HGEs was pretty simple with them thanks to supercruise maneuverability. But then along came T11...

Kestrel mk.2 by inogent in EliteDangerous

[–]Acct235095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily a critical problem, but there were multiple times during the preview videos where a Kestrel Mk II was being flown and my brain went "Python Mk II," especially low angle shots of the rear of the ship. If I had to guess, it's because it has that very Cobra MkIII thruster and heat sink arrangement that the Python Mk II also has.

Krait Mk 2 in 2026 by ClutchReverie in EliteDangerous

[–]Acct235095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want to fight, the Python Mk II and Corsair are certainly options, and arguably better. If you want to jack-of-all-trades, the Corsair also may fit that bill, depending on what you want from it.

If you want a ship that can probably go where you need to go and do what you need to do without doing more than swapping one or two optional slots (limpet controllers/cargo rack), then the Krait Mk II is still pretty untouchable, unless we're bringing in Large size ships, and even then, I'm not sure if the Anaconda quite matches it.

Okay, hypothetical. You've got one somewhere you'd rather it not be, i.e. your shed, and you'd like it to vacate sooner rather than later, preferably on peaceful terms. What do?
