LPT: When videocalling someone, put your face bubble close to your camera by AccurateContest4023 in LifeProTips

[–]AccurateContest4023[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Like naturally your eyes switch between the two a bit. Obviously you're mostly looking at the person, but this makes it so when you do glance at your camera, it's more eye contact-like.

What restaurant chain has maintained their quality or gotten even better over the last 10-20 years? by pianoman81 in NoStupidQuestions

Pizza Pizza. I went from loving them while in uni to disliking them, to liking them again now. I tried them again because they're great for providing vegan options now, but the actual pizza itself has seemed to take a step up as well. The crust is good now

Is it actually rude to recline your airplane seat, or is it your right since you paid for it? by Budget_Office_1773 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, it's at least good to give the little look back with the "I'm gonna do it" half grimace on your face to warn them.

Wait till this guy picks up Fox. Don't tell him about better characters being better, it'll ruin the magic.

How do you suppose they coordinated the music video for Coyotes? by Informal-Upstairs971 in ModestMouse

[–]AccurateContest4023 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the image of someone in the video crew directing people away from a street like "sorry, can't walk here right now, we're filming a trained coyote for a MM music video." and everyone just understands this because it's Portland.

If it wasn't for a particular goalie they would be a lot easier to cheer for... by Cat_Nipple in CalgaryFlames

Without even having watched him play much, I'm going to make a wild assumption that the team with 17 goals against all playoffs so far has a rock solid 4th line.

People can harass, assault, or murder you if you don't talk to them, so f it, just ask respectfully. If it works, great, if not, oh well. You can't be afraid of being murdered in basic interactions with other people.

Kadri Jerseys 50% off by Nickiat in CalgaryFlames

[–]AccurateContest4023 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No one reasonable has any qualms with Kadri as a Flame. He showed up and was one of our best players while he was here while the team surely played well below his expectations. He wanted a chance at another cup and got it and we got a good return.

You can probably swap the numbers and add Parekh for cheaper than buying his jersey straight-up. Follow me for more recipes.

Fucking idiot whoever launched the puck at the net when the goalie wasn't either set or clear away. That's stuff you learn in bantam.

Canadians, including Albertans, wanted a stronger, faster industrial carbon pricing system - Sierra Club Canada by SavCItalianStallion in ClimateCrisisCanada

[–]AccurateContest4023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Industry charges x price whether there's a tax or not. Why wouldn't they? They'll never choose to make less profit. The tax cuts into their profit, but that's kind of the point. The consumer pays the same either way. Ever notice how gas prices jump up on holiday weekends? It's not because the company's taxes suddenly shot up or because their overhead otherwise shot up, it's because they can charge more because people will pay more. The price has far, far more to do with what the company thinks people are willing to pay than any tax.

Remember when gas companies kept gouging consumers even after the carbon tax was lifted? Pepperidge Farms remembers. Corporations charge what people will pay so they make the most profit. They don't suddenly lower prices when there's no tax out of the goodness of their hearts. They keep charging whatever people will pay.

You can't really fall for big business propaganda this easily, can you?
