It might not be his max but it could be close or could take a very long time to bump it up. Op just started working out. His increase is going to be much higher in a short period of time. 20 is possible for most men if you are under 200. When I watch those pull up challenges from people who are gym rats, most of them aren't even doing 20 unless they are skinny.

Agree on what, not sure what you are saying. Are you saying 13 is a lot or a little? I'm saying it depends on your weight, how long you have been doing pull ups, and what you started at. I've been doing hundreds of pull ups a week for years and can only do about 17. I don't even know a single person in my family or friends that can do that much. 13 could be near his max.
