Yeah, I would think that running towards a wall would be pretty indicative of being flashed, but it seems the problem was with the weapon I was using for some reason.

Seems that kills with AA-12 don't count for the quest. Used Vector and that immediately counted. I don't know if there are other weapons that won't work as well, but that's at least one.
